Upper abdominal pain - 29 weeks update

Upper abdominal pain right at the top of my bump. Originally thinking it was indigestion but got a lot worse and kept me awake all night. The pain is in one particular spot, right in the middle, at top of bump, even there when sitting down, but more so when walking around, getting up down etc. even just moving slightly.

I went to the doctors this morning and he made me an appointment at the materinty unit in hospital for me to get checked out. He didn't seem really concerned but thought it best to get checked out properly anyway. I went to the hospital, they monitored the baby for half hour or so, checked my urine, and asked for the doctor to come and chat with me. She said the baby is perfectly happy in here and there is no reason for them to think at this time that it is anything more than a strained/pulled muscle. I'm still worried and unsure as the pain just does not want to settle down. I don't recall suddenly pulling a muscle to leave me with this pain. Has anyone else had similar? Do you think they maybe could have done more for me? Or should I just accept it as a strain for now and get one with it? I have no other symptoms. My GP did mention possible placental abruption, I didn't mention this at the hospital because I presume they know what they are doing. I have to go back in 2 days if no better.

if you had a placental abruption, then there would most likely be bleeding, sharp pain and disturbance to the baby;s heart beat when you are monitored.

my sister had an odd, severe pain in the later weeks of pregnancy, was in for a few days, and then sent home as nothing in partic seemed to have caused it and baby was happy.

everything is growing and stretching and moving, all your ligaments etc are softer and it is a lot easier to pull something or strain yourself without even realising

of course, if the pain is bad and not subsiding and you are still worried, you must call them back
