I was sent for a scan on Friday as was measuring 3 weeks behind (was 35/36 only measuring 32).

Scan was all ok & within 'normal' range & they estimate babe is 5lbs 3oz.

My DD was 7lbs 11oz.

Anyway....I've read that at this stage babies can gain more then half an oz a day, I have 27 days til my EDD so have worked out that even babe was to gain an oz a day he would still only be just over 7lbs - do you think's that's probably about right?

I've got a mix of Early Baby, Newborn & 0-3 clothes as with my DD I was told she was going to be 9lb+ & everything we had for her was miles to big.

Most of the Newborn stuff I have is up to 11lbs & the few Early Baby bits I have are 7.5lbs so I'm wondering whether I should get a few more EB bits??

The reason I have a few EB bits is babe tried to escape at 33 weeks so my lovely friend bought some bits just incase.

I'm 36+1, babe is 3/5ths engaged & I'm getting huge amounts of pressure, very strong BH's, back ache, bowl movements etc...I feel like labour isn't to far off but obviously I could be completely wrong!!

Sorry for the waffle......

Xx

Mummylovesprams - when I had dd2 they kept scanning as they thought she had a big head (no one ever asked me how big her siblings head was 40cm which was far bigger than dd2's head when she was born) At 32 weeks when they scanned me I asked what her weight was - it was 7LB I had dd2 at 39+2 and she was 9.1 and half oz.

Late scans are notoriously inaccurate, but glad yours went fine. Did they check blood flow thru placenta, too, that kind of thing?

If baby goes late, she could be bigger than you think, or you could drop her tomorow and end up with a tiddler, so I wouldn't worry about clothes sizes (myself, am pretty laid back about such things, though).

Hope it all goes well!

Yup they checked the fluid, the cord etc etc & all was fine, his legs were maesuring a fair few weeks behind but my DD only has little legs & is diddy for her age (she's 2 but in 9-12 months clothes)

It's just trying to get enough clothes to keep us going whilst I'm in hospital as everything from DD was pink & don't think Little Man would appreciate being in pink babygros lol!

I don't think he'd give a monkey what colour his babygros were...

I'm not sure I'd be that keen on him being in pink frilly sleepsuits!

I had a scan at 35 weeks (due to a lack of fetal movement caused by a tummy upset which had dragged on for days as I had not realised that iron tablets were making it worse) . Anyway back to the point - they said Blake weighed just under 5 lbs at this point and was under the 50th centile. My consultant was a little concerned by this as my first baby weighed 8lbs 12ozs at birth and was therefore on the 75th centile. I had another scan at 37 weeks and they said Blake then weighed 7lbs. He arrived at 41 weeks and was a whopping 10lbs 14ozs (luckily botn naturally and with no complications).

This has made me not trust the scans at all, mine must have been inaccurate.
