cord around neck

Hello all
I bought a doppler when I was in my first trimester as I had problems with a hematoma etc and occasionally I still use it now I'm 39 weeks. Anyway baby is engaged but when I use the doppler I can hear cord sounds way down where the baby's head is - below the heartbeat. I'm now so worried that he has the cord around his neck. I know this is common but I have this fear that something bad is going to happen in labour. If only I hadn't checked

Does anyone have an previous experience of the cord beinga around the neck in labour or can offer my any advice to calm me down please.
Thanks Jo x

Don't know if this helps at all but DD had cord round neck as she came out - midwife matter-of-factly said 'Oh, she's got the cord round her neck' and slipped her finger under it and flicked it out of the way as she came out.

Could you have a chat with your midwife to put your mind at rest?

Bell2 - the sound you are hearing is very probably the placenta. It worries me when mums are listening in to their own babies as it can cause extra worry when you hear something you weren't expecting. You cannot pick up cord round the neck when listening in with a doppler.
To reassure you though, IME most babies have cord wrapped round their neck or body somewhere and are absolutely fine. It just gets unravelled at delivery. HTH.

Thanks all
I'm feeling more calm about it now - I guess i worry more as labour approaches.
