Hi everyone, I am new to this chat, I just want advise and tips or even people’s experiences if they have been or going through the same as me. I am 13 weeks and was diagnosed with HG since 6 weeks, I constantly feel sick and I feel like a shadow of who I used to be. I couldn’t be happier to grow my baby but dealing with this mentally really takes a toll on you over time. I am on cyclizine and prochlorperazine but to be honest they only help a little bit. I just want to know I’m not alone as this is a very isolating experience to go through especially when people say I had “morning sickness too” when people who do not know anything about HG I literally want to scream.

So sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s really debilitating. If the meds aren’t really working then go back to your GP/ early pregnancy unit and ask for other options. Xonvea is really good and helped me to manage to eat again and not feel as bad. It’s expensive, so they don’t like to prescribe it first line. You could ask for it and see how you get on with that one. There’s also other drugs too which are also very effective. Eat what you feel like (if you can) and rest when you can and be kind to yourself. It’s honestly so difficult and unless you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to explain how debilitating it can be. Good luck!

Yep, it's grim. There's no other way of looking at it. I was sick all day every day until around 30 weeks. You name a place, I've puked there. I only took cyclazine at night because it made me drowsy and helped me to fall over to sleep, until around 2am when it started again.

It's hard not to compare pregnancies, especially when people tell you they feel sick....yea but are you worried about your teeth because of how much bile you're bringing up on the daily? During my second pregnancy I threw my back out and pulled muscles in my ribs due to puking. I literally couldn't move from bed for 5 days. Fun times. Nausea is just not the same.

I was sort of prepped because all the women on my mums side of my family are like this and so it's kinda normalised and we just know we have to get on with it. Que me taking work calls from my bathroom floor, unmuting between puking. It was nuts.

Good thing is that it will end, even though it's hard not to think this is just your life now. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank you guys for taking time to get back to me, I was originally going to be given xonvea through my local hospital after being on IV drips and anti sickness, when I went to collect at the hospitals pharmacy they didn’t stock xonvea and my doctor wouldn’t give it so I didn’t end up getting it. For me to be seen by early pregnancy unit I have to be referred by my GP surgery and that’s another mission in its self they are useless tried to be seen today and they turned me away and said I’m already on two medications and they didn’t mention anything about a referral to early pregnancy unit. I am 14 weeks Thursday and apparently I am able to be seen via triage.
