My unborn child just ate my ice cream whilst I watched tv

So there I am watching some nonsense on the local news, when I look down and over half the tub of Hagen Das that was resting on my bump has disappeared. DH is in bath with DS.

The only explanation is that my bump ate the ice cream.

Damn. I shall have to be more careful when I eat the second half.

Sorry to hijack, but want to get something off of my chest here...
The dr at my local surgery has this chart for weight gain throughout pregnancy. It's a specific weight gain for each week and she weighs me every time. I wasn't overweight pre pregnancy, so I haven't been gaining too much during the pregnancy, but last time I was a little less than ONE KG over the "chart"'s weight gain recommendation - when I asked "is that ok?" she didn't say much but looked disappointed and said that I should "just be careful from now on" (I'm 25 weeks).
The MW and everyone else says I look great and I haven't noticed anything getting bigger besides my stomach!! (and I'm my biggest critic with weight gain...). I have had to go back to this dr often because they are monitoring my iron levels weekly now so I just dread the scale. Last time I had to go in for a quick blood test at 10.30 and didn't eat breakfast to "seem lighter". I just think this is so wrong!!

Refuse to be weighed next time star6. There is absolutely no point to it.

My unborn babies were know to force me to wake up at 3am and blend ice in the smoothie maker, to add to my 2 litre bottle of full fat coke.

My mw won't weigh her pg ladies as she says we are under enough pressure as it is. My GP only weighed me when I had hyperemisis as I had lost so much weight. In France 3 my sister's mw told her off for being 250g too heavy at one point - as my sister put it "... that's just a decent poo"

I'm 26 weeks and have only seen my midwife for a booking in appointment - don't see her till 28 weeks so no weighing at all!

ok... i'm such a worrier and not good at refusing something the dr asks me to do... but I'll have some practice in the mirror before tomorrow (my next appt to get bp and blood test again...!!)
Love that comment bikerunski!! I'll have to use that if I can muster up the courage... like sringerspaniel, I too, am eating incredible amounts of ice cream... I mean... ummmm... the baby is eating it...

Gasp, I did the same with a tub of the new Cappucino flavour........ mmmmmmmmmmm yummy.
BTW I love being fat in pg, used to be very underweight and so enjoy feeling warm and cuddly whilst I am incubating a lovely little boy, he often shows me how pleased he is with my body by kicking me lots .

My Squirmy has been gobbling Cookies'n'Cream too! Well, he needs to lay down a decent fat layer during his third trimester, and he's definitely having growth spurts like he should, so it must be containing vital nutrients! This is my professional opinion as an ex-embryologist!

I admit I know diddly about being on the outside of a fetus, but my midwives just take your weight first time they see you and only take it again to compare if there's a problem.

Star6 - refuse to be weighed there is absolutely no reason for it especially if you are going in for iron reasons! I have not been weighed at all during this pregnancy.

aaah, I remember the days of being able to eat a half tub of vanilla icecream daily without DH raising an eyebrow, because it was "medicinal" - it stopped my heartburn when I was 3rd trimester. Much nicer than gaviscon!

The only time weighing in pregnancy is legitimate is if you are seriously underweight at booking or your suddenly develop signs of pre-eclampsia - in which case sudden weight gain (more than a couple of pounds a week) can be a symptom.

But your GP is being a twunt!

Please always eat before blood test Star 6, I didn't once and fainted, bashing my head on wall on way down, felt so silly to have big cut face cos hadnt eaten breakfast! I was never weighed in pregnancy either, in fact I am sure my MW told me they didnt do it anymore...

Apart from the reasons WMMC states they don't need to weigh, they should tell everything from your fundal measurement. Star6 - did you tell her no in the end?

ok, I just got back from my appointment... she asked me to please step on the scale. So I said, "I don't think that's necessary, I'd rather not be weighed every time". Her response was a shrug and "well, it's your health".
I'm 5ft 2" and was 115 prepregnancy and I'm 123 now... at 25 weeks. I said, "if I feel like I'm gaining too much weight, I'll let you know" Her response "most women don't know how much weight is too much"

Well done star6. Your weight sounds very healthy both at the start of your pregnancy and now. It is NOT considered good practice to weigh women after their booking appointment. I mean what are you supposed to do, starve yourself to keep within her limits? It's absolutely mad. Is she French?
