Early pregnancy scan not matching my dates

I went to my early pregnancy scan today through window to the womb. I’m supposed to be 9 weeks and 1 days pregnant. But when advised me I’m only 6 days and 1 day and they found no heartbeat (which sometimes you can’t have a 6 weeks)

I have to go to a follow scan in 2 weeks times, I’m already sobbing my heart out because how can I bet three weeks the wrong way my LMP was 15 August. And I haven’t had sex since 24th August.

Anyone had a similar experience? I am going to call the middwife helpline tomorrow but honestly I don’t know what to do- I’m going to be in limbo for two weeks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If you’re sure of your dates then the unfortunate likelihood is that the pregnancy stopped developing. The only way they’ll be able to tell is by rescanning in two weeks to see if the situation is the same or if there’s any further development.
I’m afraid in this situation I’d be preparing myself for the worst. Take care of yourself over the coming weeks - many of us have been there too, and it’s a tough wait to hear for sure.

I had exactly this! Was meant to be 11 and measured 9 1/2 weeks (although was measured by hand) 15 years later I have a healthy beautiful teenage girl. Try not to worry x

I'm so sorry you're going through this, I know how stressful it is. I had exactly the same experience, I was 9 weeks and the baby was only measuring 6. Mine did have a heartbeat but unfortunately the date discrepancy was because the baby had stopped developing. I'm so sorry I don't have a better account, but I would regrettably recommend preparing for the worst. I'm so sorry 💕

I know it’s lovely to try and be positive but if you are definitely 9 weeks (which the OP is if she has not had any sex since 24th August) and there’s no heartbeat (plus measuring much earlier) it’s very very unlikely to have a positive outcome unfortunately. I have been through this myself multiple times sadly. Whenever I have measured behind, especially with no heartbeat, it has ended in loss. Missed miscarriages are horrible as you often have no signs other than the fact the baby stopped growing weeks before but your body keeps thinking it’s fine.

@ByGentleMember i would prepare myself for the worst if I was you unfortunately. Obviously no one can tell you 100% either way at this stage, including the scan people which is why they make you return again to confirm, but chances are this is a missed miscarriage sadly. Sometimes dates can be out by a few days, but the lack of heartbeat at point is the biggest sign that there’s a problem,

@ByGentleMember Sorry was meant to add I would definitely call your midwife. Chances are they won’t do anything personally at this point as you are too early for them, but they may be able to refer you to your local EPU. In my experience it is best to get this done ASAP, because they often don’t take private scans into consideration. So they’ll scan you even if you’ve had two private scans and often STILL make you wait another 2 weeks for them to rescan themselves. My first missed miscarriage was suspected by a private scan (should have been 6w4 but measured 5w1 with no heartbeat). They suggested rescan in two weeks which I did. This showed no growth so they told me to contact GP. I did. He referred me to EPU which took another week. Got first scan there (at this point I should have been over 9w) which still showed 5w, had to wait 10 days for EPU rescan, then I decided surgical management which I needed to wait. All in all from the first scan at 6w4 I finally had my surgery at 11w5. My subsequent missed miscarriages I’ve been a lot more on it to get scanned appropriately by EPU and get my preferred treatment started.

Hi yes I’ve contacted them today and will have to call them tomorrow so they can get me booked into a scan, I gathered it wasn’t going to be good news from the research I’ve done but I was hoping someone may of had a positive experience to give me a little hope💔

This happened to me too unfortunately and it wasnt a good outcome.
I dont advise going back to window to the womb as they will charge you again and they cant help with what happens next if it is bad news.

2 days after my scan I had my booking appointment and the midwife carried out the appointment and arranged epu to see me.
I think you should prepare yourself for the worst whilst hoping for the best.
