With DD, I had an epidural so couldn't feel teh contractions. When MW said it was time to push I insisted on brushing my teeth first (I'd be sick earlier and I HATE having dirty teeth!)

I also kicked the student MW, hard, on the hip when I was in too much pain to speak when she said something about DD's name (silly bitch)

i refused to go to the loo unless they got gas and air in canister that i could take with me they used a catheter instead

i also refused to push untill they got me more drugs!! even though they were insisting that it wouldnt help at such a late stage. they gave in in the end as they needed me to push!!

im fine with the contractions i handle them quite well its the pushing bit i panic at! both times i held out waiting for the pain to get bad enough to need an epidural and both times i waited too long!! and then wnet berserk when they wouldnt let me have one! if there is a next one im insisting on an epidural right at the begining!

I insisted that nobody spoke. The slightest noise wound me up! I'm sure it was quite difficult for those around me as I was in labour for 2 days!

My poor husband had to listen to the same pethidine fueled question over and over again...

I felt quite spaced out, and when I spoke, it seemed that he answered a number of seconds late. But I got obsessed by knowing how many seconds.

Me: When I speak to you, you answer late. But is it 10, 15 or 20 seconds behind?
DH: Umm, don't know.
Me: Well guess. Does it seem to be 10, 15, or 20 seconds behind?
DH: Umm, don't know.
Me: Well I'm saying this now, and are you hearing it...now.
DH: Umm, I really don't know...

Midwife: Lou, I think you might need to accept that we can't answer this one. Because you are hearing it later, which is why it seems later. Ben can't tell you...

Brave midwife. Why my husband didn't make something up I don't know..

I bit dp - very hard, on the leg, and left bite marks . Not sure I insisted on it though, just kind of did it. And it entertained the midwife no end .

Listened to Radio 2. All day.

I insisted, quite forcefully, that we get a photo of DP and I when I was already in the pushing stage.
I kept saying it we had to have a last photo of us as child-free, a momento sort of thing...
He tried to tell me that now wasn't really the time for pictures, but I was adamant so he obliged.
The picture is THE worst picture ever taken.
I've got the G&A tube clamped in my mouth, I'm sweaty, red-faced and crossed-eyed through the pain. Dp is rigid with a wierd, forced smile, he looks nervous and has the air of a hostage being forced to pose for propoganda pictures.

I wouldn't mind but the fucker had emailed the bloody thing to all and sundry by the time I got home

This thread is genius!!! I am laughing out loud at work, which takes some doing at the moment... That pethidine sounds great, can't wait to try some!!

bohemianbint · 03/07/2008 13:49

Jeremy - that's the funniest thing I've heard in a while!

BettySpaghetti · 03/07/2008 13:54

I insisted that I wanted to have a bath. DP ran a bath, I got in, lay down and instantly insisted I didn't like being in the bath and had to get out immediately (not easy with SPD so severe I'd been on crutches) -quickest bath in history!

LittleMyDancing · 03/07/2008 15:50

I said very forcefully that I'd had enough of this labour now, I was tired, and that if they let me go home I promised I'd come back the next day and finish it off.

Honest.

Jeremyvile, that made me ROFL!
I love this thread.
I made my sister help me put my bra on at one point, it took her ages cos i was wired up to monitors and on a synto and antibiotic drip and had an epidural. Soon as it was on i had to take it off!
