I had hyperemesis in my last pregnancy, that was 7 years ago . I on only 7 weeks and just had a crying fit as I was begging the gp to let me try ondansetron but she won’t . I’m genuinely happy to take the very small risks . I keep thinking about having a termination as I just can’t cope at the moment. Im
on xonvea , cyclizine did nothing at all. The gp prescribed promethazine which I somehow have to collect tomorrow, don’t know how .
I just wanted to know if anyone found a different first line medication helped despite being the same antihistamine family as cyclizine .

I found promethazine quite helpful in my first pregnancy as it got me off to sleep at night when vomiting was at its worse.

I'm sorry your GP wouldn't give you the ondansetron - mine was the same until around 10 weeks.

Are you well enough to be at home, do you need to go in for some IV fluids? Is your GP happy you are well enough to managed at home like this? Sometimes the dehydration can make the nausea even worse and if iv fluids are on the cards they might help.

I really hope you can find something that works. I am pregnant with my second baby at the moment and the nausea came on fast again by about 6/7 weeks but it has actually faded to the background a lot quicker this time (by about 22 weeks. With my first I was sick throughout).

Sending you a big hug, it's not easy is it xx

couldnt read and run - it’s awful!! Are you booked in anywhere yet ? If so midwives may be able to arrange antisickness - if nothing is helping attend ED - it is an emergency if you’re vomiting, not able to keep down fluids and can barely move - you’re at risk of a blood clot! As pp said perhaps iv or intramuscular injection will kickstart a stop to the sickness x x

I have a few hours in the morning when I’m not too bad as long as I don’t move around so I try to drink and eat in the morning . Come 11 am it just ramps up and it’s awful until I go to bed . Managing sips and few bites . Last time I had lost over a stone from 7-12 weeks , this time I think I have lost just 1.5 kg so far , is that 5 pounds? But I seem to be keeping stable now . It’s just the nausea in the afternoon evening is debilitating, I can’t move from the sofa/ bed . As soon as I get up I start dry heaving and eventually vomit . And I keep spitting . It’s just awful but I know it can be worse . I just feel bad because all my colleagues are fine , working no problem, I had basically the whole pregnancy off last time 🤦🏼

@Orchid90 poor you it sounds so rough. It reminds me a lot of my first pregnancy, for me after about 4pm things ramped up and we're unbearable I found it almost impossible to eat so like you I got most of my eating and drinking done before midday. My appetite was poor throughout all trimesters.

Just keep going, and keeping seeing your doctor if nothing is getting better or you feel faint, lethargic or are struggling to keep any fluids down at all. It won't be long until you can have something like ondansetron.

Have you started the promethazine yet?

Easier said than done but try not to worry about work. It is your managers job to ensure that the work place can function and they need to have an inclusive approach recognising that some people like yourself have protected statuses under the equality act and cannot control their reasons for absence in the same way as others. Have you spoken to your manager about how things are, do they know you are pregnant?
