Should I test early?

In July I had miscarriage, I was 10 weeks but baby had stopped developing at 6 weeks so was an MMC. Heartbroken was an understatement, especially as my first pregnancy was perfect and worry free. We also conceived on the second cycle we started trying.

We were ready to try again after the first cycle from the MMC, which was August, but that was a negative test in September.

I’m now in the 2 week wait, unsure of when I ovulated but my fertile window was between 29th Sept and 6th October. I had great coverage.

I’m a symptom spotter / scrutiniser. I currently have very sore boobs and afternoon fatigue. Entirely consistent with both pregnancy and PMS. Period is due on Sunday, I can’t decide if I should test tomorrow morning with an early detection test, or just wait until Sunday when my period is due. I can’t decide what would be more disappointing, the negative test or the period.

What were your symptoms around 10-12 DPO and what would you do?

Ahhh so so sorry to hear of your MMC. I had one too at 12 weeks. It is awful and I think the months afterwards were the worst of my life.

It took me 5 months to get pregnant again (which is the longest it’s taken, I think the stress didn’t help) and I tried both waiting for a period and testing early in that time. Sorry to say I found both ways disappointing, it’s a question of would you rather be slowly let down or have it hit you all in one go (I never really believed the neg tests til I got a period).

All I can say is there is light at the end of the tunnel. You willl definitely get pregnant again soon — may be this month! — and this will feel like a distant memory before too long. And I always think I’ve been a happier and more grateful mum than I would otherwise have been. Our perfect son was born 15 months after the miscarriage and our daughter is due next month. Wish I could tell the heartbroken me of 3 years ago how wonderfully everything turned out. Hopefully will help you.

On early symptoms, all 3 pregnancies my first symptom has been getting up to pee loads at night!

@Livv94thank you for responding. I did test this morning, and it was negative. You’re right, there’s no good way to see the cycle was unsuccessful. I’ve slight hope that it was just too early to pick up HCG, so will test again on Monday after my period. But it’s looking unlikely 😪
