Hi,

I’m 33 weeks baby is on 90th percentile growing big, I am being treated for anemia and consultancy led due to
blood pressure concerns. At my 33 weeks appointment I asked consultant birth options and she said induction is highly likely, I asked options of c section and told her fears of blood pressure and palpatations in an induction and doctor was very dismissive highlighted only the risk of c section and told me not to go by everything I see on tik tok. Never mentioned risks of induction, felt very one sided and dismissed. Feel very anxious now about what to do and not happy with tik tok comment and overall bias of doctor.

Blood loss is typically higher during a c section than a vaginal birth (up to 500ml is normal vaginally and up to a litre normal in a c section) so if you're already anaemic I'd have thought she'd be pretty keen to keep your blood loss risk to a minimum.

Hello. Congratulations on your pregnancy and imminent arrival 🙂 and Im sorry to hear youre feeling anxious.
If you live in England you can absolutely opt to have a c section without having to provide a medical reason. Its worth speaking to your midwife and asking for a second opinion about your specific case. In terms of C section information generally, c-sectionuk instagram page is very very helpful with lots of relevent information about c sections, pros / cons, recovery, prep, step by step walk throughs. Its a specialised c section midwife who owns this page, and she has done a lot of work with NHSE and Government around c section health care. You could use this page to read up and then inform your conversation with a second opinion dr maybe as youll know a bit more about it and can ask plenty of questions.

And for another perspective, the problem with a big baby may not be the size of the baby: www.rachelreed.website/blog/big-babies-care-provider-fear

You have the right to insist on a C-section, the doctor has the right to refuse but they have to refer you to another doctor that is willing
