First scan worries

Due to my history I was able to get a scan through the EPU last Friday, and all it has done is send me in to a huge awful doom spiral!!

i should have been around 6 weeks 3/4 days (this pregnancy was conceived on the immediate cycle after a chemical so things I’m guessing were slightly delayed/off)
however they measured me between 5-6 weeks (they were not specific). I didn’t want a scan that early but I wasn’t about to turn it down, and of course I was hoping for a better result. So not only was I measuring behind, there was no heartbeat detected. The CRL was measured at 3.3mm which they said can just be too small at this point to detect one. I have a follow up scan on the 19th which honestly seems like a year away at this point and I keep spiralling.

all I’m looking for here is similar stories that people have experienced. I know no one can tell me what will happen, only the scan will. I just feel like I’m going insane and would be nice to hear from other people I guess🥲

Looks like 3.3mm converts to about six weeks, rather than five, so you’re literally just a few days off! If you weren’t tracking then that is probably just not ovulating on day 14 of your cycle. I think they reckon you won’t hear a heartbeat until at least 6mm so just looks like scan was too early to give any sort of reassurance, sorry 🙁. 19th you can definitely expect a heart beat if everything is ok though, probably better for your nerves than an earlier one when it’s still a maybe!

Sorry I'm not able to offer you reassurance, but I'm also currently around 5 weeks pregnant after my chemical last month. The first day of my chemical bleed was 8th September and I tested positive on the 4th October, although I didnt get a peak because I ran out of LH test I know I ovulated later than usual. Can I ask how you was able to get a early scan did you need your GP referral to EPU?
I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you for replying to me, that information does help ease my mind a little bit!

I didn’t track ovulation massively this cycle but I roughly know I ovulated later than cd14 for sure, it’s almost like my brain just will not let me see the positives or have any hope. It’s the worst.😩

never wanted time to move faster in my life!

Yes I went to my gp, I sort of knew I was chancing my luck abit as I didn’t technically meet the criteria but if you don’t try you never know!

I explained to my gp my history ( 2x chemicals, 1 MMC and I bled with my daughter and was put on progesterone with her early on) and I got lucky as she was really nice and said she she would try her best to get me under the EPU which she did. However, I will say that altho it’s good to be under the EPU I did not want a scan this early for this very reason of uncertainty so hindsight, not sure I’d do this again!😂

I hope your journey works out for you too!
