Hey, I am 30 weeks pregnant with anterior placenta it’s my second pregnancy with an anterior placenta, I can’t quite remember what the movements were like with my daughter cos it was nearly 2 years ago. Anyways with this pregnancy some days I can feel her kicks a lot and then some days I can hardly feel her😣 as you can imagine the anxiety isn’t the best. I’ve been to triage but I can’t go every other day I just want a bit of reassurance if anyone else’s pregnancy was or is like this??

Yes, I had anterior placenta with two of mine. Some days I felt them move loads, some days not much at all. But if I lay down and put my hands on my tummy I would always feel something within half an hour (sometimes I only felt it through my hands and I wouldn't have felt it otherwise due to the placenta which explains why I wasn't feeling much that day). I decided my line was that if I hadn't felt anything after half an hour I would have gone to triage but it never happened. I know this is not in line with advice, but if I had gone to triage every time I had reduced movement I would have been in there ten times a week from 28 weeks to 40 weeks! Not practical.

Not everyone with anterior placenta has this pattern of movement with lively days and less lively days, but if you find that this is the normal for your baby, you could discuss with your midwife what you do. Maybe something like the lying down and concentrating on just the baby for a set amount of time would work for you too. How practical this is depends on whether you are working or not I guess!

Hey,

Thank you so much for replying it’s not a nice experience is it having an anterior placenta.

i think my baby moves more during the night time i guess that’s her pattern but apart from that I could
go the whole day without feeling her which is the scary part cos they are getting bigger you’d think you would feel them more and the kicks are more stronger.

I’ll be glad when she’s here🙈

when you felt your babies move how many times would they kick you would it be constant movement or just a few kicks and that would be it?

It totally varied tbh. One day they'd be kicking me violently several times in a minute, regularly through the day. The next day I'd get to 2pm and wouldn't have felt a single thing, the day after they'd do the occasional flutter, or occasionally do a few violent movements for ten minutes or so and then go quiet again. The only pattern was that there was no pattern!

I think that’s the case for me as well then, I did go to triage this morning and of course as soon as you are put on the monitor they start kicking away. It’s put my mind at ease now tho! I will just have to keep a close eye on it thank you for replying x
