Screening Test Result

I need someone to talk to or reassure me. I got my result back today from screen test and honestly none of it looks positive. Firstly 1 in 54 chance of the baby having Down syndrome. Then the hcg was lower than it should have been and the papp-a was only 0.23 which is low. Now everyone is telling me not to worry but how can you not. I’ve not stopped crying since. I have a NIPT booked in tomorrow and then it’s a what 2 weeks wait. Anyway had such negative result but a positive outcome!?

I can’t remember exact figures but my Papp-a was about 0.14. Basically everything I read told me it was highly unlikely to be a successful pregnancy. Edward’s and Patau’s came out at something like 1in20. NIPT came back fine and I now have a completely happy healthy 2yr old.
I know it’s not possible but try not to worry too much or Google too much. 1in54 is still a 98% chance that your baby won’t have Down’s syndrome.

I’ve just found an old post of mine when I was waiting for the NIPT result. Papp-a was actually 0.12 and risk of Edward’s and Patau’s was 1in7. Honestly, you have a very good chance of everything being fine, but the wait to find out is difficult.

Link to thread with my old post and OP had similar low risk result from NIPT

I am so glad everything worked out with yours pregnancy. Stories like yours does ease the anxiety a little. I’m just so worried because a lot of the test results didn’t look great I think the fluid at back of the neck was 3.2 and that was after a 30 minute attempt at trying to get the baby to not hide. I’m praying it’s all positive and everything will be okay!

Hello, I know what it's like to need reassurance and I can say that I had a significantly less "positive" number re: Down Syndrome and it did turn out fine. But I remember looking for comforting figures online and what I was really looking for was a message from my future self saying everything was fine, and of course, you can never get that. It's best to stay away from the internet! I am sorry you are so worried, it's a really difficult time. I hope you get answers soon and that everything is okay. Look after yourself until then.

Thank you for your message. I am worried about the wait. I’ve read different wait times for the results and some say they ring you and some say a letter but that makes me nervous. I just need to have my blood test tomorrow and take it from there I guess

Hi, it’s been a bit since I wrote this post. I got my results back today and everything is low chance and no concerns. I feel like I can breathe again. I didn’t realise how much it was worrying me until I heard the news. I’m ready for a nap and a good relax!

Hello, I had a 1 in 20 chance of Down Syndrome from my combined screening. I also had high beta hCG and low Papp A (0.42). After the NIPT, I went from high risk to low risk with a 1 in 5000 chance. Please try not to worry. Also, the results came back in exactly a week. It’s highly unlikely you’ll have to wait two weeks xx
