Offered progesterone - 7 weeks

A quick backstory first:
First pregnancy MMC
Secondary pregnancy I had a hematoma but went on to have a healthy baby who is now 8
This pregnancy I started spotting/bleeding at around 6-7 weeks and went for an early scan at EPAU. The sonographer saw baby and heartbeat and a yolk sac and couldn’t find any reason for the bleeding so we were sent on our way. In the car on the way home the nurse/midwife rang and said ‘do you want to start progesterone?’ I didn’t really know what to say and have no experience of it. She said Google it and let them know. Google tells me it’s to prevent miscarriage and is offered to those with early bleeding?
I suppose I’m asking if anyone has taken it, if you felt it was ‘worth it’, if there are any side effects and if it’s now typical to be offered it in my position (given that I wasn’t offered it for the pregnancy immediately after my MMC)
Thanks for reading

I had 6 miscarriages. Following them I had progesterone and my pregnancy was fine. I spoke with a US doctor that was convinced that many miscarriages are caused by low progesterone. I would take it.

I’ve been on progesterone since 7 weeks (now 29 weeks, would have stopped at 16 but kept on it as I also have short cervix), I would if I were you. There aren’t really any disadvantages and could save your baby if threatened miscarriage.

I was offered at 6+4 due to some bleeding from a hematoma and I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks last year. I have been taking it every day since and I am 20 weeks now, due to stop it once I am finished the course. I honestly hands down think it was the best thing I ever took and it was such a saving grace for us in this pregnancy and I am so glad I took it. I started taking it vaginally but the constant leaking of the casing of the pessary caused so much irritation that I had to start taking it rectally but other than that there was no symptoms from it. I can not recommend it enough x

I had 3 MCs and was referred to a specialist. Consultant prescribed progesterone from very early in the pregnancy that followed. I had some side effects (think dizziness and nausea though I can't really remember now), so it wasn't an entirely pleasant experience, but had no bleeding, a straightforward pregnancy and a healthy baby at the end of it so it was completely worth it for me.

I had progesterone after three miscarriages, I’ve had two successful pregnancies whilst using progesterone.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that I had this issue too, but taking it rectally was fine.
I moved on to aspirin after progesterone. I'm not sure if they helped but they didn't cause any harm and may have made all the difference.

Can I ask if it was called Utrogestan? That’s what I’ve been prescribed and the info leaflet says it’s used for HRT. Obviously can be used for miscarriage prevention as well I’m assuming.

I was given Cyclogest 400mg pessaries but they are more than one progesterone pessary so im sure they’re exactly the same x

I took it after a mc, along with aspirin. DD is now 16.
