I wiped yesterday and this is my discharge. I’m so scared something is wrong. I rang the midwife helpline they didn’t really say much just to contact GP sent the GP a photo of it too, they didn’t really say it was a concern just need some swabs. Has anyone had this ?

How far along are you? Good to get swabbed incase you have an infection or something x

Congratulations! I had all sorts of random discharge throughout both of mine but best to get checked as you are x

I had discharge that looked exactly like this and freaked out too. I had persistent spotting throughout my pregnancy and was at EPU a lot to get checked. The time I had this it turned out I had thrush. I also had an ectropian on my cervix (an irritation) that was causing the bleeding and other discharge. I'm currently lying next to my son as he naps, so all was well in the end.

Did you get checked for the cervix?

When I went to EPU they had a look up there to check my cervix was closed and that there was no visible cause of bleed. They did swabs too. The swabs showed I had thrush. They could see it was thrush too. Other times when I went for spotting, they did a speculum check and that's when they mentioned the ectropian on my cervix. It looks like a burn they said and when it is irritated, it would give off blood-like discharge.

I honestly had what you see in your picture there. For me, it was related to the ectropian and thrush.

Do you think it’s odd that the midwives team just said to contact my GP, I’m worried my cervix isn’t closed

I think they're likely not concerned about it because it's not fresh blood. I'm not sure where you are but I think in the UK, you can ask your GP to refer you to EPU so you get seen. I'm in Ireland and I rang the EPU directly and stated my concerns and they told me to come in and be checked. I had 2 miscarriages before having my son so I was really upset with each episode of spotting. You could ask to be seen and checked via speculum if you are worried.
