Very dark line - what do I do now?!

Hi all, first time posting and would really love some help/ advice. DH & I started TTC last month. I took a pregnancy test yesterday when I was only 5/6 DPO. I was a bit bored, free time and honestly wasn’t expecting anything as obviously it was far too early. I’ve been a bit nauseous and emotional but put it down to stuff going on in my life.
However, I had a dark positive line appear almost instantly. It wasn’t even my first wee of the day. I didn’t believe it so did a few more, yup, all positive. I even went on the test reviews on Amazon to check if they had had issues with fake positives because it doesn’t seem right. I did a CB and that came back positive aswell.

i think perhaps I had ovulated earlier than I thought however I had been tracking it days before I was meant to ovulate and they didn’t show I had. My symptoms are similar to when I was 5-6 weeks pregnant with my DD, not 3 weeks!! We had TTC in August however I didn’t ovulate and I got my period mid September.

I’ve self referred to my local midwife department but I won’t have an appt until I’m 8/9 weeks. But if my dates are wrong, I could be further along than I think or I’m very worried it’s twins ( twins don’t run in our families but I am BF and there is very loose research suggesting a link between higher chances of twins and BF).

anyway, I’m just stuck as what to do now. I think I’m very impatient so just want to speak to a doctor / midwife now but I know there isn’t really much they can do! Think I just need someone to say, calm down, stop overthinking and be patient!!!

Well you’re clearly much further along than 5/6dpo. An embryo doesn’t start implanting until 5-6dpo so it’s impossible to only be that at this point even if it was twins that makes no difference. Twins cannot implant earlier than a single baby. You are at least 4-5 weeks with lines that dark. Personally I’d either try and see if an EPU will scan you earlier or if not book a private scan. I know you say you didn’t ovulate last month and you had a period but if you didn’t take a test last month then it could well be you missed ovulation and your period wasn’t really a period. I would try and get seen by someone.

Congrats.
Hopefully you have already been taking folic acid for a few months before TTC, if not start taking it now. IF you have a higher BMI, you should be taking the prescribed 5mg rather than the OTC 400mcg.

Firstly congratulations! I'd guess you're about 5 weeks based on those tests otherwise you'd start seeing the hook effect so I'd expect them to start getting lighter in the next few days potentially.

I wouldn't worry about twins or anything yet as it's out of your control anyway, you probably just got your ovulation date wrong.

Thank you so much for responding, you’re very right about implantation etc. I did a pregnancy test in mid September as my period was a few days late but it was negative then I got my period the next day. It was a normal period. I will look into EPU! Good shout.

I had what I thought was my period with my youngest. Full blown "heavy period" for almost a week, wore tampons.
Turns out it must have been very heavy implantation bleed or threatened miscarriage...my child is here and healthy!

So your 'period' may not have been a true period. You must be further along than you think!
Congratulations 🥳
