Hi, so I had some spotting 2 days ago when passing bowel movement, it was bright pink on the tissue. I went for a private scan yesterday and they confirmed baby was fine, growing well and heartbeat was great. That evening I had more bleeding but this time it was bright red. It's not going onto the pad just when I wipe. No cramps. But obviously I'm really worried now... Anyone had similar?

I bled on and off throughout my first pregnancy. He's 29 now😊. Was scary at the time though.

Yes. That child is currently in 6th Form.

It was very emotional, and I was crying in the waiting room for my scan.

I had quite a lot of bright red bleeding when DD was about 8 weeks. It lasted for 5-6 days, initially just when I wiped but then onto the pad like a period. I had to wait 4 days for a scan and it was torture! She's now 3 and a half ❤

I had a few bouts of bleeding with my first, settled down once I got to 12 weeks.

Yes, I had lots with my ds. He is 12 now.

You should ask to be referred to the early pregnancy assessment unit in your area. In some areas women can self refer in other areas you can go through your GP. They will try to find the cause of the bleeding.

If it’s spotting then it isn’t uncommon for it to come from the cervix. Blood flow to the cervix is increased in pregnancy and some peoples cervix’s are easily irritated.

Another common cause of bleeding is a subchorionic haematoma which is a pocket of blood between the gestational sac and the uterus. If it was this I would if expected the private scan clinic to point it out but maybe it depends on the place you went to.

I bled horrendously from an especially large subchorionic haematoma between about 9 and 16 weeks. A&E level bleeding, bright red blood and clots, soaking through pads within 20 minutes or so. Honesty it was horrific, most people don’t have it that bad.

But despite all this the baby is okay, the haematoma resolved by 20 weeks and the second half of the pregnancy was uneventful and low risk.

Thanks for your message ☺️ yes I've got an appointment this morning! I'm trying to stay hopeful that yesterday afternoon everything was completely fine. But seeing bright red blood is quite scary! The private clinic were very clear that they would not tell me the cause of bleeding and only show me the baby... Sigh.

Yes I bled throughout my first pregnancy, he’s now 12 and fit as a fiddle. It’s actually really common to bleed. Try not to worry and stress yourself out!

Hopefully you find out a reason today and that baby is okay x

I've just had my scan and baby is fine and they can't see any cause for the bleeding! Phew! They've said if it happens again I should go back! What a rollercoaster!
