Frequent Braxton Hicks at 28 weeks, did anyone else experience this?

Hi all. It’s my first pregnancy and I’m 28 weeks pregnant and have been having around 30 braxton hicks a day, over the past 2 weeks, usually 2-3 x an hour (but has been up to 6 an hour), more often if I move. Does not improve with anything I.e rest or hydration. Had reassuring ctg monitoring and my cervix was checked at hospital. Hearing some differing things about how common it is to get so many…

Have others had this during pregnancy so frequently? If so did it lead to earlier delivery?

Thank you :) from an overthinking first time mum.

Yes, I had them with all my pregnancies (and had quick, easy births with them all).

It can be difficult to tell if you’re actually going into labour when you have a lot of Braxton Hicks - especially towards the end of the pregnancy when they can get very strong.

If they get very frequent or painful (and that pain can be anywhere - in your bump, back, bum, thighs) then get checked out.

My twins were born at 35 weeks but the rest were more-or-less on time.

When I was in labour with my first, I was strapped up to the contraction machine and the midwife said ‘Ooooh, that was a strong one - it was nearly off the scale!’. I’d barely noticed it but I’m pretty sure that a pregnancy full of Braxton Hicks was the nine-month workout that lead to quick, easy births for me.

Yes. Especially getting in/out of the car. Washing up, bending over. Worse with each subsequent pregnancy.
At 33 weeks I had regular 6 mins apart for over 3 hrs. Never got to 5mins so maternity unit not interested. That pregnancy went to 42 weeks.
Don't want to burst your bubble but it definitely didn't make any of my births easier as 12 hr + labours. But..I dilated incredibly fast.

6cm to delivery in 20 mins #1
Cervix closed and firm to delivery (in the lift) 30 mins.#2

And #3..4 mins 2nd stage.

#2 5 days early and #3 induction at 38 weeks.(because of precipitant delivery)

Yes! I had this! This was 15 years ago but I felt like the midwives didn't believe me and I never got to the bottom of why it was happening. My bump would go rock hard all the time. I found it quite difficult tbh as I was uncomfortable and on edge with it. I remember trying to go for a walk and I just couldn't as the contractions were so annoying and limiting. I never met anyone else who had it so felt quite alone with it.

Baby was a real wriggler(still is)... he's always been very strong and very active so I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Yes with all mine. Especially the last. None were early.

i think dehydration and stress/tiredness don’t help

I had a lot with dd2 quite early on, probably around the number of weeks you are and then all of a sudden they stopped the just came back towards the end. Some people I think just feel them more.

Like PPs I had lots of frequent, strong braxton hicks through 4 pregnancies, all 4 babies were late but all my labours were fast, and I also felt like my body had ‘practised’ a lot and it made things quicker. I would get them a lot in the evening once I was sat down/resting, and then they would go on for hours.
