Collagen powder in pregnancy

Hi mums,

I have been suffering from hair loss for years now, it started when I got COVID back in 2020 and never really went away. Since being post partum with my first it's gotten so bad. For 2 years my hair has been getting thinner and thinner and I'm feeling really broken about it.

I'm now pregnant with my second, and despite hoping my hair would cling to my scalp for at least 9 months, it's still falling out at rapid pace.

I've spent a fortune on topical oils and shampoos. Nothing has worked.

A few friends have recommended and sworn by collagen Powder in their morning tea.
I have bought Ancient+Brave 100% bovine pure collagen powder. (No added vitamin A, herbs or any vitamins for that matter)

There's been no clinical trials, the internet doesn't give any definitive answers.

Are there any mum's out there who have used something like this during pregnancy? Surely I'm not the first.

Help! Please! Before I have no auburn hair left on my head.

Hair isn't made of collagen anyway, it's made of a different protein, keratin. Not that it would help anyway as it's just broken down to amino acids & digested like any other protein. Hair usually stops falling out anyway when you are pregnant .

Collagen powder is just the latest scam.

Have you seen a GP about your hair loss?

I've been taking that exact same brand and collagen for the last 18 months. That covers my last pregnancy and I've just found out I'm expecting again. Can't speak to my hair but my nails have never been as strong!
