Gestational diabetes - first reading and ill

I’m having a horrible first day and looking for some reassurance. Had the glucose test on Monday and made a mess of it as I ate my main meal at lunch as normal on the Sunday and a lighter meal at 19:30pm to avoid having indigestion in the evening and when trying to sleep. Then did bedtime with toddler and fell asleep and fasting bloods weren’t until 8:30 and that reading was okay. Unfortunately 30 minutes in my body crashed from the drink probably because it was also starving and I fainted. I read this can cause your liver to dump glucose into your blood. They still took the second bloods and it was 8.7 so over the 7.6 hence I failed it.

I’ve now got my kit so was trying to see if it was a false positive or a genuine one for my own peace of mind. Unfortunately we are having a nightmare week, partner is up for redundancy, toddler has been ill all week with a tummy bug so we’ve had sleepless nights and then we’ve both come down with colds, sore throats, fatigue and slightly raised temps which the toddler also now has just as they had recovered.

Did my first reading an hour after I started lunch, had chicken, a wrap, tomatoes so very simple and had some chicken first. Walked for 20 minutes after and then went to do the first test. I was anxious, my partner took 4 goes all of which hurt as he couldn’t get enough blood out, toddler started having a meltdown as they needed a nap and it became so stressful especially as I hate needles and blood. Reading was a 9.0 so feeling super deflated by it all. I don’t know how much of it is due to being ill, stressed or what is down to the food. I only drink water, I’m being careful, I’m walking so I feel really lost. Haven’t had any one on one advice yet either.

Is a 9.0 post lunch normal when ill? Any tips would be very welcome.
