Decisions... cot, crib, moses basket or amby nest. Any thoughts?

I've been looking into sleeping options for 1st baby (currently 25 weeks) and have been going round in circles. I'd like baby to sleep in our room for at least first 6 months and then go into cot in next door nursery but I can't decide what's best to buy. We've a big room but not loads of space at the side of the bed so a bedside cot might be a bit awkward. A moses basket is the obvious choice but only lasts a few months so it seems like a waste of money and I don't know what we'd do between baby outgrowing that and moving into its own room. I've been thinking of the Amby nature's nest as a compromise. Any thoughts/opinions on what is best?

Just another point of view, both mine hated the moses basket, especially DS2 who was a big baby - I think it didn't offer enough support underneath - so we moved pretty quickly to a full size cot.

If you want to go for an Amby, go for a second-hand one. I did and while it was great, my LO turned into a squirming little worm at about 14 weeks and I HAD to put him into a cot as he looked like he was dangerously close to turning over (even though they said that wasn't possible in an Amby, I wasn't taking any chances!). Thank goodness I bought the whole set for about 100 pounds off another MNetter. I intend to keep it for the next one though... I second the travel cot. We have a full-size cot in our bedroom and he wasn't too happy in it. However, I am now visiting my parents and and LO is happily sleeping in a travel cot as it isn't as big (and scary to him!). GL! Mine wouldn't go into a Moses basket AT ALL! I got one off freecycle and freecycled it when DS wouldn't go into it. It's a bit trial and error and every baby is different I'm afraid...

For those who have used the Amby - does this just 'put off the inevitable'? What I mean is how did your LOs cope with the transition from the Amby to a cot?

Thanks for all the opinions - gotta love MN! I think I might either borrow a moses basket and see how we get on or get a second hand Amby. I'm impressed by how many good reviews it gets.
