Fashion to conceal pregnancy

I’m only 7 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 but my stomach has blown up like a balloon. I’d like to keep this news private for at least another month/6 weeks but it’s getting harder. Any fashion tips to conceal baby bump in the workplace. I’m currently wearing my normal clothes and wrapping a pashmina around my neck so it dangles down my front to cover my stomach area. Fashion

hopefully it gets colder soon and can hide in baggy jumpers and knit wear!

You could get some longer floaty tops.
Could you be having twins I started showing earlier with mine. I didn't find out until 12 week scan

I felt the same way but looking back it really wasn't even noticeable. I felt like people would be able to tell so early but no one noticed. Jumpers are good or buttoned up shirts would cover the bump.

Oh wow never thought about that, twins would be wonderful! I was big with my first one, had gestational diabetes and lots of extra fluid.

I look 6 months pregnant when I’m bloated so try not to worry. I promise nobody sees a bit of a belly and thinks you’re pregnant. They just think you have wind.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/09/2026 07:27

Waterfall cardies and loose tops might work for a while. A woman I work with is about to go on her second mat leave, and has never announced her pregnancies until a month or two before mat leave, but most people had worked it out weeks previously.

Drapey things are all very well and good, but if they are not what you usually wear it looks very suspicious.

There are some peplum tops and cardis in M&S right now though if you’d prefer

leggings and a big jumper, with a long scarf hung loosely in front

Leggings to work and a scarf in 23C weather?

Black t-shirts and black trousers under a brighter coloured boxy jacket hides a huge amount. Your tummy is hidden in shadow. The weather will be getting colder. When it does, add a silk scarf to fill the gap.

I got to seven months before I told my team. 😁

TheVeryAngryBanana · 24/09/2026 08:46

Boxy tunic dresses like they sell in Cos cover a lot. I find high waisted trousers especially in linen work well because they're often loose over your tummy. If you have an untucked shirt it will cover that the waist is a bit tight.

Oversized dark coloured knitted jumpers. I'm 7 months pregnant and it's only just started becoming noticeable under jumpers.
Don't overthink it though people might just think you've put one some autumn pounds - I doubt anyone would be bold enough to say anything!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 24/09/2026 09:09

Easier as we move into Autumn. Layers and scarves hide a multitude of sins. Also, people tend to notice less than you think.

11plusherewego · 24/09/2026 09:11

Depending on where you are OP I’d assume in this weather that someone wearing a long scarf is indeed trying to conceal a pregnancy. But I’m also smart enough to realise that person is almost certainly not ready to talk about it. No guarantee your colleagues will behave like that though.

I went for slim ankle crop trousers with more floaty tops and a blazer.

You will likely be feeling bloated, so feeling bigger than you actually look.

Only reason why I’m hopefully for cold weather!

I wish. I’m very big - it’s mostly bloating though. I get asked all the time and I don’t like to lie to people.

Thanks will research waterfall cardigans as never heard of them.
