Large clot in second trimester

I would really appreciate if knowing if anyone has experienced similar and gone on to have a healthy baby

I had a huge bleed yesterday at 18+2. Gushing onto the floor and down my legs. Bright red. I went to the hospital and passed a 5cm x 5cm clot whilst I was there. The baby is fine and they couldn’t explain the bleeding. My placenta is low lying and a tiny bit of it is touching the cervix, but they said it was heavier than what they would expect it to cause. It was horrible and coming out onto the bed during the scan, they couldn’t do a speculum exam because of the amount of bleeding

I have had two earlier large bleeds with clots at 7+1 and around 13 weeks that I had to get checked out, but this one has really rocked my confidence just in terms of now being later in the pregnancy and the amount of blood and clot size

I’m taking progesterone. It is an IVF pregnancy and I understand that can lead to more bleeding but this was intense for several hours. My cervix has shortened since my last scan two weeks ago from 34mm to 27mm so I want to pick that up with them too tomorrow
