Pain in soles of feet

Last night I couldn't sleep because of the pain in the soles of my feet . I am 16 wks pg with my 2nd and i don't remember this from before. At my last ante-natal appt when I mentioned it -the dr. said it was due to increased blood circulation during pg and my body would adapt.
I know it happens when I'm busy - on my feet for a few hours or more, but some people have to stand as part of their job all day!! As my energy levels are getting slightly better I would like to get back to being more active and this is so frustrating. Has anyone any experience of this / any suggestions??

colette, I had the same thing with my 1st pregnancy. I wasn't working and didn't spend a particularly large amount of time on my feet (thank god). But they felt like I had walked a marathon every day. I put it down to all the weight I gained during pregnancy. The only solution I had was to get my husband to give me lots of foot rubs and wear super comfortable shoes. It did go away shortly after giving birth and I didn't have a problem with myt second pregancy.

Sofia Ames
Thanks for the advice. I feel it's very early to have this problem and also I've only gained about1/2 stone so far . I will ask for more foot rubs though!!

Colette, I read a really interesting article in the health section of the Telegraph newspaper online site - telegraph.co.uk - about excessive pronation, where the feet can get v painful..dunno if this only happens post-pregnancy but it was a useful piece about how you shouldn't wear entirely flat footwear (eg flipflops) during pregnancy but give your arches a bit of support. hth

thanks bundle, I was going to say that too. I found that things like trainers made it worse. I preferred a good walking shoe with a small heel.

Thanks I'll try wearing less flat shoes. I've stopped wearing high heel boots about 3 wks ago as it made my posture worse than ever .I'll look at telegraph on line too . Anything that helps
