Sheepskin liner or footmuff for a newborn in winter?

I am expecting DD2 who is going to be born end of November, so right at the start of winter, and I’ve been eyeing up either a sheepskin pram liner or footmuff. I’m trying to take into consideration that she will be laid in the carrycot for a considerable portion of winter - I know sheepskin is supposed to keep them cosy in the cold, and regulate temperature in the heat, so I wondered if having a sheepskin liner (and then wearing a pramsuit, hat etc., and adding a blanket if it’s freezing) will be more useful throughout the various seasons than a footmuff? However my mum is of the opinion that a footmuff is better for winter.

I feel like I’ve completely forgotten the absolute basics! My eldest was a spring baby and I don’t recall using a footmuff with her until the following winter. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated!

I thought a footmuff was just for covering their legs when they're older?

I'm due in November too and now I'm wondering whether I should be thinking of these things! My first born was an August baby. I was planning on getting a fleece star wrap, pramsuit, cardigans/hats/booties and just lots of blankets for in the pram.

@ThatMintMember yes I definitely didn’t have a footmuff with my eldest until she was sat upright in the pushchair and it was cold enough to need one - so probably about 8/9 months old I’d say!
Isn’t it odd how you forget these things 😅 and it’s tricky thinking ahead to the colder weather when it’s still mild.

I've just had a look back at some winter photos of when my son was about 4 months and he was only ever in cosy hand knitted cardigans, with a blanket on him and a thick one under him too in the pram bassinet! He was a very chunky boy so was never cold luckily.

The sheepskin liner sounds good for a newborn though. I'm just planning on layering my little one up more when it's extra cold I think.
