Flu during pregnancy

I’m nearly 34 weeks and have just tested positive for flu - does anyone have any positive stories of recovery or not getting too ill at a similar time?

My toddler has been unwell for a week and we found out at A&E yesterday that it was flu - I’d been looking after her so it’s not unexpected for me to also get it but I am still feeling pretty nervous having read about potential problems in pregnancy. Unfortunately, we’re booked in for our vaccines in the next couple of weeks but I didn’t expect to get it so early in the season.

I don’t have a fever yet (which I know is the riskiest thing) but have been advised to take paracetamol to manage this by the midwives if i do get one and to stay hydrated - any other tips? My daughter is unfortunately still not very well after nearly a week of fevers so will need to be managing that too.

Please don't worry too much, this isn't that uncommon and baby is fully cooked in there just growing now.

Make sure you rest as much as you can with a toddler and fluids. Fingers crossed you get better soon - if it was going to happen now vs your due date is at least better!

Continue to listen to midwives advise and contact them with any concerns at all, they can reassure you further :)
