I am pregnant with my second child, 4 years after having our first. We have tried for 20 months for this baby so it feels like a miracle and we are obviously delighted. Because we were suffering with secondary infertility, we were under a fertility clinic when I got pregnant. As a result, they arranged HCG blood tests and a scan for me, which I know isn’t the usual.
So my HCG at 4 weeks and 5 days was 7,422 which I’m told is quite high. I of course googled this and it mentioned there could be an abnormality with the pregnancy. I then went for a scan when I was 5 weeks and 1 day. I knew from google (again) that this was very early and didn’t expect to see much. I came away feeling really deflated and anxious as they told me they couldn’t see any heartbeat which they would expect with my HCG levels being as high as they were and the yolk sack looked ‘mildly abnromal’. They said we are not too concerned as it’s so early but we will need to rescan next week. So I have another appointment 9 days later.
I am now in limbo and of course thinking the worst. I haven’t stopped crying because I feel like we have tried so hard for this pregnancy, we really got our hopes up this was the end of our struggles.
has anyone else experienced this? Ever been told the yolk sack was abnormal then went on to have a healthy pregnancy? Only searches don’t look positive. Thank you
