I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant. I was thinking of an abortion but after making research and finding out that during these weeks the heart of the baby is beating, the internal and external organs are forming, something in me changed. I cried a lot. I didn’t want to abort anymore but to keep it. But this will mean ending up homeless, then living alone, with 0 family support and handling Uni while pregnant. I’m already struggling with mental health so I thought better an abortion, but I’m not sure anymore. I’ve heard about some clinic that helps young single women dealing with trauma and mental health issues such as the MBU. But just thinking about confronting my parents and ending up living alone with a baby, first baby, it’s really scary.

How old are you? What year im uni are you in OP?

MildlyAnnoyed · 09/09/2026 20:33

Why would you be homeless?

somanychristmaslights · 09/09/2026 20:35

There’s a lot of your post that doesn’t make sense Op. you got married and divorced? Why will you be homeless? You can tell your parents but mention about 0 family support?

LizandDerekGoals · 09/09/2026 20:35

You need to speak to someone at the university.

Jk987 · 09/09/2026 20:36

Where’s your ex husband, does he know?
I hope you confide in a family member or a uni friend.

Peoplemakemedespair · 09/09/2026 20:37

Op there’s a hell of a lot to unpick here. From the very few statements you’ve given us, it sounds like the chances of you being able to keep and raise this baby successfully are slim to none

TGT · 09/09/2026 20:38

Can you explain clearly what has happened? Why did you get secretly married? When did you divorce? Can you ask your family for support?

Bluenotgreen · 09/09/2026 20:41

Do you worry that your family won’t be supportive?

I think you need to tell your parents and also student support services at uni. You don’t need to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy right this minute but you do need to talk through your options. Where’s the baby’s father? Is he aware you’re pregnant?

Stableunicorns · 09/09/2026 21:38

Very odd thread. What are the timelines?

I agree.

OP we don’t judge anyone for having sex when they’re not married.

I would say that 90% of us on here have had sex with men we weren’t married to - I definitely have.

I’m not saying you’re not telling the truth but perhaps the timeline seems a bit off because you never actually got married or divorced?

Obviously you’re a uni student, you’re very young and you live with your parents - so the likelihood of getting married and then getting divorced is quite slim.

This sounds like a really difficult situation OP. How are you feeling today?

Is there someone in real life you can talk to about this? Student support at uni is a good idea. You could even talk to your GP? They can advise you on pregnancy choices and mental health support too. And signpost you to somewhere you can find out about housing if you do think your parents would kick you out if they find out about the pregnancy. You won’t start to look pregnant for a while so you have some time to figure things out.

I’m guessing it was a religious marriage and divorce, not a civil/legal one, if it happened very quickly.
