Hi there, I'm 40 yo (yes, geriatric mama!) and 35 weeks pregnant with my first. Physically, this pregnancy has been so easy (literally zero symptoms), but emotionally and mentally I've changed a lot. It's like pregnancy doesn't agree with my brain and I've become very anxious with OCD tendencies and struggle with extreme insomnia. Never imagined this for myself and I don't typically struggle with anxiety.
Naturally I'm quite worried about PPD, PPA after having the baby but part of me also wonders if having my baby here to take care of and focus on will take spotlight off my own issues and what's going on in my brain, giving me space to breath because it's no longer about me. Does anyone have some positive stories to share about struggling with mental health during pregnancy, but feeling better after the baby was here? Of course if your story doesn't fit that narrative it's ok to share, but mainly looking for stories of hope. Thank you!
