Slightly raised amniotic fluid and big baby at 34 weeks

Hi mums, I’m 34 weeks pregnant and have been told I have slightly more amniotic fluid than I should. It has increased a little since my scan 2 weeks ago. My baby has also gained around 600g in 2 weeks and is measuring quite big. They’re now checking me for gestational diabetes.

Has anyone else experienced this? If you weren’t diabetic, did the fluid settle or stay slightly high? And if your baby was measuring big, what happened with their growth towards the end? Would love to hear your experiences. ❤️

Hey! I had a high amount of fluid and crossed over the normal threshold. I had tested negative for GD at 25 weeks but had to test again due to the fluid and baby measuring big on a growth scan and tested positive at 33 weeks.

Fortunately I managed to stay diet controlled and the fluid crossed just into the normal range again. Baby didn't come out too big, born 9 days early at 7lb 8. But my first baby was 5lb 11 so whilst not too big overall he obviously was bigger than my first but he has been a better sleeper and eater for it!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience ❤️ I’m really pleased to hear that your fluid came back down and that everything worked out well for you and your baby. Honestly, I don’t mind if I end up having gestational diabetes, I just want to know that my little boy is going to be okay. It was really reassuring to hear that your little one was a good sleeper and eater too! 🥰 Thank you again for replying, it’s really appreciated xx

Hi, I’m very similar to you! Was picked up at 30 weeks that I had more amniotic fluid than normal and baby’s head and belly were measuring above the 90th centile. I did a GD test about 25 weeks and that was normal so was sent for another at 31 weeks and that also came back normal. I’m 35 weeks now and my scan last week showed baby is measuring on the 81st centile and the largest pocket of fluid was 11.1cm. I have another scan at 37 weeks and will see what happens from there!

I had a lot of fluid, and continued to have a lot. No GD, measured big, was induced so they broke my waters at 39+5 and she was 7lbs 10oz, they had predicted a 9lber at minimum
