Positive test at 4 weeks 5 days after PCOS and miscarriage

Hello,

been trying to convince baby number 2 for about a year now. Had my first son in 2019 and then had a missed miscarriage in august 2023. I was diagnosed with PCOS the same year. I have been on and off of Metformin a few times, recently starting again in March 2026 which has really helped regulate my periods to now every month. My last period of 29/07/2026 and my period was due to start today 01/09/2026. Yesterday 31/08/2026 after being away for the weekend I decided to do a test as I still had very tender breasts and no sign of my period coming.. low and behold the test was positive.. I then made DH rush out to the shop to buy a digital.. I don’t know when I ovulated as did not track (too stressful) but according to the first day of my last period it dates me as 4 weeks 5 days. I’m just concerned my tests are a little light and I’m only reading 1-2 weeks. Any positive outcomes or anyone had anything similar.

@Sunshine1621 thank you for your reply I’m trying not to stress test for my own sanity but hard sometimes when all you want to see is progression… tests attached

are

1st & 2nd are yesterdays test when I found out (done two as thought one must be faulty)
3rd is from this morning FMU very light @6:30am
4th was done at around 11:30am today
5th was done around 6pm today

don’t really know if there is start of progression just so anxious of it being a chemical or another missed miscarriage

As hard as it will be, I’d stop testing and wait a week before running another. Otherwise you’ll just be torturing yourself over something you have no control over. Best of luck for you x

I really do agree with the above poster OP my very best advice is to test in 1 week. I used to test each week to see progress and it's not failed me.

But to respond to your photos. The only off day was the test you did this morning.

Outside that all the other tests look like progressions.

Other piece of advice is to test in the morning only and not for the rest of the day. But I understand the anxiety. It's just it doesn't help ❤️

tried my best to step away from tests and haven’t tested since Monday… done some more this afternoon and these are them.. got my 2-3 on a Clearblue digital and feel like my easy at home lines are starting to progress so fingers crossed

Aw I knew it!

I would test once a week from time I find out until about 7 weeks and it shows proper progression.

So happy for you though. I had 4 losses prior to my current pregnancy so I know what it's like. I'm routing for you 😊

@Sunshine1621 yeah I try to do that but I just can’t help it even though I know HCG rises every 48 hours lol.. but still reach for the test lol.. and thank you so much! My son who is 7 has been desperate to be a big brother so hopefully this time all goes well!!

my premom app puts me at 5 weeks 1 day from the day of my last period which was 29/07/2026

but that cycle was 34 days long which according to the NHS app puts me at 4 weeks today so not sure which one to go by. What do you think??

And I'm not clued up on the way cycle lengths affect the weeks. I would though use the NHS answer if they accounted for your cycle length x
