Was wondering if someone can give me a positive outcome or reassurance? I am so so so stressed. So I went for a scan exactly 6 weeks from my LMP. I got my static smiley cycle day 14 so I know my dates are bang on. At the 6 week internal scan there was a flicker of a heartbeat but baby was only measuring 2mm. I booked a private scan for today, making me 7 weeks 3 days, she done it over my abdomen rather than vaginally but we seen a heartbeat instantly, but unfortunately it was only 4mm. I googled and should be around 10/11. Has anyone had any positive outcomes? I know the fact there’s a heartbeat is a positive and I know I am so so early but I am spiralling. Thank you.

Sperm can live for up to 5 days so there is a chance that you didn't actually conceive till later than you think. I did have similar though and measured smaller than expected. My EPU scanned me (I think) a week apart to see the growth and it was less than expected. Saw a heart beat at 6 weeks and unfortunately MC at 8 weeks.

Are you in the UK? Why did you have a scan at 6weeks? Was this on the NHS? What are your next steps? Do you have another NHS scan or bloods? It is till very tiny at this stage and equipment and sonographer experience can vary. Wishing you all the best x

Really sorry yours ended up in miscarriage! It’s such early days isn’t it. I had a 6 week scan as I had signs of an ectopic pregnancy (it wasn’t) then went for a private one today for reassurance before I went on holiday.

I think there is a big variety in size at the early stage. I had a scan at almost 7 weeks due to fertility treatment and the sonographer put me at 5 weeks. But then when I had the 12 week scan they readjusted the due date back in line with the dates I had originally thought.

This is reassuring! I need to remind myself I’m only 6mm behind the average, which I know is so small when I’m so early!!
