Hello Mums
I’m 40 and currently pregnant with twins, but looking for some advice, similar experiences, or insight into cysts if anyone has any. My head is all over the place.
The situation with the twins:
- Twin A: Measuring right on track at 8w6d (based on LMP).
- Twin B: Measuring over 2 weeks behind at 6w2d.
Both have heartbeats and both have grown since last week’s scan. Last week we were told Twin B wasn't viable, but today’s sonographer said it is viable, though unlikely to make it due to the slow development. Twin B is also positioned closer to the cervix, so the main concern is that if Twin B miscarries, it could take Twin A with it. The sonographer mentioned today she’s never seen an "age" gap like this before in twins.
The cyst:
There is also a cyst/mass inside Twin A’s sac. It’s grown since last week, isn't attached to me or the baby, but today they mentioned it might be attached to the cord. It hasn't impacted the baby's growth since last week.
Background:
We have a 2.5 year old who is amazing and full of beans. I had a miscarriage in April this year that required a D&C after two failed medical management attempts. I’ll be having weekly scans from here for a while. We’ve mentally prepared that we likely won't be taking twins home, but we are desperately hoping Twin A makes it safe and healthy.
Has anyone experienced a growth discrepancy like this in twins, or dealt with a cyst attached to the cord/in the sac?
Thank you all ❤️
