I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me after an ectopic pregnancy ?.
On the 7th August I found out i was pregnant after almost 18 months of trying. The pregnancy was confirmed by the GP and me and my partner were so excited. We also told our 12 year old daughter who has been desperately hoping for a sibling we were all so happy.
I wasn't sure how far along I was because my last period was the 18th July lasted 3 days very light ( not usual for me) the period before that was the 14th june lasted 5 days heavy (very typical period for me) the gp said she was going to base the pregnancy off of the june period because the pregnancy test was such a strong positive.
Anyway fast forward everything is fine slightly nauseous but nothing crazy and I felt extremely bloated I looked 8 months pregnant.
On Friday morning I woke up and it felt like my bladder was full it was hurting so much i went to the toilet And the pain made me throw up I was trying to stay calm so had a shower and got dressed I called 111 explained my symptoms and they said a gp will call in an hour, the gp called and I was in so much pain i could barely talk and was being sick so he said I need to make my way to a&e. I got to a&e and within 5 minutes my blood pressure was being taken the next thing I know i wake up on the floor with 20 doctors and nurses around me holding my legs up and trying to put me in a bed. Im so delirious and out of it everything happened so fast I had three canulas put in one on my hand and one each side on the inside of my arm and I was prepped for surgery. My right tube had burst and I had internal bleeding i lost 2.5 litres of blood, the blood had travelled to my kidney and liver, I had a blood transfusion and a line in my wrist to my heart. It was very traumatic not for me because I was so out of it but for my partner it really scared him. I was into recovery at 4pm and stayed there for a couple of hours until my bed next to the nurses station was ready. I had a catheter fitted and a drain in my left side the nurse said they sucked the blood out of my stomach but they couldn't get it all so the drain was to get the rest of it out. I fell asleep in hospital that night and at 3am a nurse gave me an injection in my leg to stop blood clots I also had blood pressure machine like things round each leg. I woke up and i was given 2 rounds if antibiotics through a drip. A couple of hours later a nurse came round took my catheter out and asked me to walk to the bathroom it was painful and tiring but not horrendous. An hour later they took my drain out (this was extremely painful) the nurse said it would feel like pressure but it was painful. 10 minutes later she said I was discharged and could go home. I asked if I needed pain relief she said paracetamol and ibuprofen and gave me 2 plasters for my drain incision and a pregnancy test to take in 3 weeks time.
I think im wondering how quickly people have recovered physically its now 5 days later and I cant stand for too long, I cant walk for too long, sit for too long and I cant do most of the things I usually do. Im signed off work for 4 weeks but I just feel like it was a serious thing that happened and I was sent home less than 24 hour's later with paracetamol also the hole where my frain was is still bleeding and they said let it air after two days of covering it with a plaster. also the pregnancy was completely disregarded like it was nothing when to us it was everything i know the pregnancy would never of survived but I just felt like this baby was so wanted and loved and I knew nothing i didnt know how big the baby was, how far along i was nothing. Im so annoyed, sad, angry that that pregnancy was probably my last im 34 and it took us ages to get pregnant this time. Maybe im being dramatic but I wanted to hear other people's experiences.
