Anyone else had an early scan measuring behind expected dates?

I just had a reassurance scan as i should be about 8 weeks pregnant if your measuring like the doctors do from the first day of my last period but when i went for the scan today the baby is measuring at 5 weeks and 4 days. I gave the women all the dates and she said its pretty normal and the baby probably should be measuring around that as i did a clear blue digital test on the 8th of august and it said between 2-3 weeks. She said come back in 2 weeks to see the baby again as i should be just under 8 weeks by then. Im just wondering if this has happened to anyone else because im now so anxious that my baby has stopped growing.

That sounds reassuring if she said it's normal 🤗 Did you track ovulation?

I had something similar and I didn't catch my ovulation but did have an ovulation bleed... Based on LMP I was 7 weeks when went for scan but it showed 5 weeks 6 days. We saw a heartbeat but baby looked like a blob so I had another scan 2 weeks later. The measurements caught up a few days but he had to do 3D scan to get a good picture because baby was so scrunched up! Did you see a heartbeat?x

No unfortunately i didnt get to see a heart beat she said the baby was to small but measuring exactly how it should be for 5 weeks and 4 days. There was a gestational sac and a yolk sac. I didn’t track ovulation but i did a test a week before i tested positive and it was negative so i only had my first positive test on the 8th and then that read 2-3 weeks so with all the dates id given the nurse she said it checks out. But im just very worried about missed miscarriages! X

I totally understand how stressful that is. When this happened in my case, unfortunately it wasn't a positive outcome, but that's not to say it won't be different for you. I'm mentioning this purely because I wish I'd been more prepared, but equally I've seen tonnes of occasions on here where people went through this and it was all fine. The second scan will tell you more, and I'm really hoping it all works out for you xx

I hope it all turns out okay for you, OP. I’d be a little worried to with the dates. 2-3 weeks on a clear blue is 4-5 weeks in real terms. So if that was 8th August, I agree you should be measuring around 7-8 weeks.

That being said, I did have some early scans with my son and within a week period, he had two weeks of growth. The sonographer said they were likely just out with the measurements first time around. You’re talking mm at that gestation.

Fingers crossed for you xx
