Clicking sound from pregnant tummy!!

I am 37 weeks pregnant and I was just interested to know if anyone else had experienced or heard a clicking sound from their tummy in the latter stages of their pregnancy - I hear it about 4 times a day when my baby moves? No jokes about giving birth to a dolphin please LOL!!!

I have mentioned it to a few midwives who have never heard of it, althought there are a few threads on other websites from women who have heard this "clicking" noise.

Definately not hiccups as my baby gets hiccups a lot and this is totally different!!

Not really worried about this, but none of my friends with children or pregnant friends have experienced it...

I have never heard of this either. Good luck any way

I had this during my last pregnancy, never got a definative answer to what was causing it. DD2 is now 12 weeks old and interestingly has the most clicky joints esp her shoulders, i wondered if this was the cause.

I found a good website with info on this and put it on your other post.

I had this - except I assumed the noise was coming from my pelvis - the bit where the two halves join in front.

It was an audible click - like the tick of a clock - and I could hear it from about 35 weeks+.

Whatever it was it went away after birth and never caused me any problems. DS has no joint problems and not very clicky joints.

The reason I thought it was me making the noise rather than him is because I somehow don't think the noise of a baby's joints clicking would be audible through all the fluid and stuff...?

There was a similar thread title a few days ago. I didn't read it I'm afraid, but may well be worth doing a search.

Are you sure its coming from your tum and not from your pelvis? I got this last time when I had spd - my pelvis used to crack loudly or sometimes click when I moved my legs. Not painful, but sometimes quite loud!

I had this with DS2, some said it was clicky joints, and another suggestion was the baby practising the sucking reflex and losing the suction, you know, a bit like a kiss?

He did have a clicky shoulder when he was born, and also had a great suck on him so could have been either, or indeed neither!

I had exactly the same with my twins last time around! Had completely forgotten about it until now. Never got to the bottom of it, but you are not alone!
