Early Pregnancy Bleed/HCG Low

Hi everyone,

Really need some help with how I am feeling. Last period 1st July, I am really irregular PCOS. Tested negative 8th August and 13th August tested first positive. With the NHS they obviously go off last period dates so would make me 7 weeks - absolutely not the case I think around 4 weeks.

I experienced light pink bleeding, as I’m technically over 6 weeks I phoned EPU, they got me in for a scan and HCG. Internal scan showed thickened lining, but pregnancy unknown location. Just had normal period pains / lower back pains. First HCG result has come back at 31 which she said is extremely low. I go for my repeat on Monday.

Given light pink bleeding, low HCG and unknown pregnancy scan I am feeling really low. Also worried re ectopic. Anyone had anything similar?

I might not be following properly here but if you are actually 4 weeks and had a late ovulation then an hCG of 31 isn’t that low right? It’s not the same as having any hCG of only 31 at 7 weeks

Also if you are only 4 weeks, that would explain why they can’t see a pregnancy on the scan and they have to log it as pregnancy of unknown location.

In 2012 I had an unplanned pregnancy after the morning after pill. I had crazy symptoms including strong pains and I went to an STI clinic. They told me I was pregnant and insisted on taking me through to hospital in a wheelchair (!) as they thought it could be ectopic given pains and the fact I’d taken MAP. They wanted to keep me in but I discharged myself but went back for repeated scans until they could place where the pregnancy was on the scan. It wasn’t ectopic. It took a couple of weeks to show up on the scans

When are they next scanning you? Have they mentioned an ectopic or you are worried about it? Remember pregnancy of unknown location is just what they need to call any pregnancy at this stage when it isn’t visible on the scan. I had an IVF pregnancy recently and every time they use that language it is scary.
