Am I OK having the laptop on my tummy?

I usually lie down with it on my tum.

Just realised maybe I shouldn't

Hi Vicky

I assume you have wifi? My dh (who works in IT) insisted I didn't and that I sat at the table (might as well get a desktop, said I). Not sure how overprotective he was being, but he seemed fairly sure.

It probably falls into the category of not going to do you any good, rather than doing serious harm..

I used to get an odd sensation in my abdomen when I did this, which was slightly worrying. I compromised by putting a cushion on my lap and then the laptop ontop.

Actually now I remember I only did that after the first trimester (when I thought the baby was formed, just needed to grow). In the first trimester I did avoid putting the computer on my lap/tummy and rested it on the arm of the armchair. Better safe than sorry and I didn't want to risk it whilst the baby was developing. After 3 months I used the cushion.

I've had two pregnancies like this (first baby back in the dark ages before I had a laptop) and both babies have been absolutely fine.

me too with the cushion but bugger me if it isn't hot

Mine gets boiling hot - I wouldn't fancy that, but if you talk to those in the know they would definitely tell you to sit properly at a desk or your back may regret it later....

Mind you can't say as I always do.
