Im coming up to 19 weeks pregnant with my first. Just a quick question, when do others start to feel the baby? Ive heard about fluttering and then regular movements. Ive grown but cant feel anything as yet!

Thanks ❤️

I didn’t know I was pregnant until quite far along. And when the midwife explained what it might have felt like to start with, I realised I’d mistaken it for trapped wind 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/08/2026 08:40

About 18 weeks. I described it as “it felt like lemonade in my veins”.

Peonies12 · 19/08/2026 08:47

I think I was about 22 weeks when I thought I felt some movement but a while after that it was regular movements. They don't worry until at least 26 weeks.

INeedaDietcoke · 19/08/2026 10:52

I think it was around 22 weeks with my first, then much earlier with my second, closer to 16/17w.

olivetty · 19/08/2026 11:03

I was at the Statue of Liberty around 18 weeks when I felt the first kick (and then had a couple of months of reeeeeally wanting to call her Liberty which my hubby vetoed immediately 😂)

Em3009 · 19/08/2026 11:15

Mine was 23 weeks when I started feeling a wave like feeling :)

EmmaB1309 · 19/08/2026 14:34

Only been pregnant once but I’d say 19 weeks is possibly still a bit early. I think I was 23 or 24 weeks before I felt anything. It was certainly well after the 20 week scan.
Congratulations!

NorthFacingGardener · 19/08/2026 14:37

Is your placenta at the front? (Anterior placenta). It will say on your 12 week scan report…it makes it harder to feel movement at the beginning because it’s cushioned behind the placenta.

Mine was after 20 weeks with my first.

I felt fluttering about 16/17 weeks then proper movement at 22 weeks

I can't remember how many weeks along I was, but I do remember that I was at the dentist, actually in the chair, when I felt it. As I really hate the dentist I always think the baby was reacting to my increased adrenaline levels.

It was much earlier with my second.

CoffeThenMaybe59 · 19/08/2026 15:25

I was quite early with all of my pregnancies. Around 17-18 weeks for little flutters. Took me around a week first time around to be sure what they were

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2026 15:32

I was about 18 weeks with my first I think. Earlier with the other two, 16 weeks and around 14. Those times I knew what it was so noticed earlier.

Tryagain26 · 19/08/2026 15:35

Maybe about 22 weeks. But I think I hadn't recognised it previously. It just feels like butterflies at first so you can very easily miss it

Imisssleep88 · 19/08/2026 19:01

With my first I realised at about 19/20 weeks but with my second I knew what I was looking for and was a bit earlier at like 16/17 weeks.

MrsBTeaches · 19/08/2026 19:56

I was about 19 weeks with my first and it felt like when your tummy goes over on a rollercoaster is the only way I could describe it. My second I have an anterior placenta and didn’t feel movements I was sure about until around 21 weeks ish and nothing consistent until about 25.

mumtrovert · 19/08/2026 21:49

Here’s what I have in my notes from first pregnancy:

Felt little taps from the inside for the first time 😍 @ 16+4. (Anterior placenta)
Felt baby kick from the outside for the first time! @ 18+4
OH felt baby kick on the outside for the first time @ 19+5
Caught first little kick on camera @ 20+5

So even with an anterior placenta it’s still possible to feel it early. (I was quite slim though!)

WhatMe123 · 19/08/2026 21:50

I think with my first it was about 17 weeks but it was so slight it felt like a feather tickling me from inside. With my second it was much sooner, more like 14 weeks
is your placenta anterior maybe?

Meand2Ls · 19/08/2026 21:57

18 weeks with my first
15 weeks with my second

FourGreenElephants · 19/08/2026 22:08

Anterior placenta, 22+something, at first only when lying down.

PancakeCloud · 19/08/2026 22:10

22/23 weeks. No placenta issues, just took a while.

Chamallo · 20/08/2026 03:47

About 16 weeks in first and second pregnancies. But in both I didn’t feel movements regularly until around 22 weeks, and DP couldn’t feel from outside until about 25.

Topseyt123 · 20/08/2026 03:57

Around 20 weeks with my first. Not long after 12/13 weeks with my second and third.

OneQuirkyPanda · 20/08/2026 15:03

Around 15w, I felt little taps for a minute while I was at work, then nothing for days.

franke · 20/08/2026 15:06

A few days after the 20 week scan with my first.

EveryoneUsingOutro · 20/08/2026 15:49

About 22 weeks. That seemed pretty much the same time as everyone else in my anti natal group of first timers too. A couple not until 24 weeks.
