Waiting for specialist scan after possible cerebellum concern at 20 weeks

Yesterday at our 20 week scan our sonographer noticed there was a deviation in the shape of our baby’s “cystic area” posterior cerebellum. They called it a cleft in person but didn’t put that word on the notes but did include question marks. They got their more experienced colleague to come in and check the screen and they immediately agreed they saw it too. We’ve been referred to a specialist hospital for a baby brain ultrasound scan but no one would tell us anything about what they were looking for or what the problem could be and the obstetrician refused to discuss it as they are not qualified. They left us in the sad room where families are told bad news crying and gave us a business card from ARC. They didn’t even go ahead with my vaccine appointment and told us to go home. We’ve been trying Google and ChatGPT to get some sense of what news we could be facing but we don’t know what we’re doing. This is my second pregnancy after the first ended in miscarriage 2 months before I got pregnant with this baby. It feels like torture. I’m so sad and feel very desperate for any understanding. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? We feel like we’re walking into the complete unknown but someone must have an idea.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Kitty1989S no idea beyond what you've been told / googled, but wanted to send sympathies.
The waiting must be torture, do hope the scan happens very soon. This sounds like a 'hope for the best, prepare for the worst' situation so I guess there isn't anything else you can do that will help in the meantime. Sorry you're going through this.

We have been to see the specialists who have told us this is most likely a Blake’s Pouch Cyst. We have a follow up soon to see whether it is persistent or has improved. Everything crossed x

@Kitty1989S thank you for updating, this sounds much more hopeful. Fingers crossed too. X
