19 weeks and feel like I’m bursting!

Hi!

FTM at 19 weeks and for the last week I feel like I’m BURSTING. constipation has been awful, not helped by IBS and iron supplements but slowly being helped by otc stuff from pharmacy. I’m eating tiny meals, grazing on different fibre rich foods through the day and staying hydrated.

But today I feel like the bump is all the way up to my lungs. I don’t feel like I should be this big at this point — if this is how uncomfortable I feel now, how will it be in the third trimester? Midwife said at our appointment last week they’re not stressed about bump size at this stage. Which is fine, but I am stressed.

can anyone reassure me? Does it get better or is it just total discomfort from now on in?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Would also recommend daily flaxseed and/or linseed if you’re not already having this.

I am now late 3rd trimester and what I’ve found is the feeling of exploding came in waves, some weeks you will feel better than others, your baby might have just had a good grow this week!

Yes baby has definitely come to life in the last 2 weeks with loads of movement, so I guess it is growing a lot!

glad to know it ebbs and flows. I’ll have a look at those for extra BM help :)

thanks and hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well ❤️

I felt like this too. Around 30 weeks I found out my baby was breech and I felt like he just didn’t have enough room in there (he was a big baby too so he probably didn’t!). Some days were easier than others depending what way he was laying - maybe your little one has found a comfy spot that isn’t so comfy for you!

Your baby might have had a growth spurt or they might have settled themselves with their head in your diaphragm or something. I remember finding it hard to sit down around 20 weeks with my first.

Have some Gaviscon in case it's indigestion. Buy a yoga ball tomorrow. Maybe go swimming or have a bath to make you feel briefly weightless.

I won't lie and say it gets more comfortable because on balance it just gets much, much more uncomfortable. But this specific instance of discomfort will probably ease off in a few days, to be replaced by something else.
