Persistent migraine and sickness at 14 weeks pregnant, should I call 111?

Looking for advice or anyone who has had a similar experience.

I am currently 14+2 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I’ve had a horrible migraine since Tuesday. It’s a constant throbbing pain.I’ve been even more tired than usual and been sick lots( the nausea and vomiting isn’t new. I am sick most days as it is) I’ve tried to rest as much as possible and drink plenty but hard to do around a toddler! Paracetamol doesn’t touch it and I’m conscious I shouldn’t take paracetamol for extended amounts of time.

has anyone has this? And if so what was the outcome? Contemplating if I should contact 111 or the EPU ?

I feel like I’m also getting some aching below my ribs but tbh I don’t know if this is more me symptom spotting and making myself worried.

Hoping others can share a similar experience.

No , people use 111 and a&e so Willy nilly . Book a gp appointment

It's Friday night. Call 111. They can get you a GP appointment or refer you to the hospital

GP is closed and can’t contact them until Monday hence why I suggested 111. I’m not someone who uses 111 or A&E “ willy Nilly”

I was similar around 13 weeks, sorry to say it went on for a good couple of weeks but I am 16 weeks now and its cleared up on its own (I think). I put it down to mild dehydration due to the sickness and heat. Ive also got 2 under 5 at home so rest is.....challenging. My 12 week bloods did also show my iron was low so I suppose that may also have played a role.

Thank you for sharing. Migraines are horrible aren’t they. I had my iron tested at my 12 week scan but have checked in with my midwife yesterday who said they came back normal. I was hoping it was just a case of needing iron but unfortunately not.

Do you suffer from migraines?

Do you suffer from migraines?

I have in the past but not for many years and when I did I never had one that lasted this long and was so constant. I feel rubbish

I think you would be wise to come
off screens

Are you keeping down water? The aching under the ribs could be from persistent vomiting, but if you’re dehydrated you might need anti-nausea and fluids through a drip. Migraines are the worst.

crazymommaclub · 07/08/2026 21:06

If you’re throwing up a lot, you could be dehydrated, which can cause headaches. I would book an urgent gp appointment so they can also check your blood pressure. Try not to worry, have an early night and try to keep sipping water and ring first thing tomorrow x

Hi OP,

Did you contact 111? If so, what was outcome?

Really hope you're okay.

Sending love xx

I'd call 111 and get seen. I had the most horrific headache in my previous pregnancy that lasted 4 days. Unfortunately I lost the pregnancy. I probably should have gone for some help as I was throwing up, awful headache that paracetamol didn't help with, struggling to eat anything.

I’m so sorry to hear that. How many weeks were you if you don’t mind me asking? I will be contacting 111 in the morning to get an out of hours gp appointment.

Thank you. I was around 7 weeks but I remember reading afterwards that you should get seen for an awful headache during pregnancy as it can be caused by the hormones suddenly dropping (thinking maybe that's what happened with me as baby had stopped developing at a scan a couple of weeks later).

Lucozade helped me finally start eating and drinking again btw so might be helpful to you :) i hope everything is fine but honestly trust your instincts, if you feel something isn't right then get seen!
