Anyone been induced with the NHS with gestational diabetes and taking metformin for it? Think I’ll be getting induced next week but not sure what to expect with it. Are you constantly monitored? Do you go straight to delivery ward to be induced?

This is not my first baby but is my first so the GD. 1st I was induced by balloon and could go home but think it will be different this time - will ask consultant at next app but curious to know what others did.

I was induced with gestational diabetes, I was on Metformin and insulin. I went in on a Tuesday and had a pessary. Was just on a ward for inductions. Monitored each day and then was a case of waiting for me to progress and for a space on delivery. It was decoded I’d go to delivery to have my waters broken and be put on hormone drip as the pessaries did nothing. Wasn’t an available space till the Friday evening (kept being bumped down the list due to mothers in active labour) Ended up in an emergency csection the Saturday morning. Very long process and lots of waiting around. Wasn’t allowed home due to the gestational diabetes as needed lots of monitoring. Also had a midwife in the delivery room 24/7 due to the gestational diabetes. Had to have bloods taken every hour to monitor blood sugar while in labour. Despite being an emergency Csection I still loved my birth. But idk think the long wait in hospital zapped most of my energy
