Too little weight gain?

Hi!
I’m 5”2 and before pregnancy was around 10.1/2. I’m now 25 weeks and only 10.7lbs!
Google says the recommended weight gain is 2 stone by this point!!
Baby is on the 17th percentile so is smaller. I never googled this with my first and have no idea what I weighed really. He was bigger, around 25th percentile.

This isn’t a stressing out post as I’m seeing my midwife this week so will ask. More of a research exercise. Anyone else not put that much weight on by this point?

I didn’t gain a lot of excess weight during pregnancy and was the same height and starting weight as you- so technically in the overweight category. As long as your baby is growing and measuring well then I wouldn’t worry. Health professionals would tell you if they were worried. I can actually remember being weighed again after the first appointment but it was a while ago.

I found that a better diet and zero alcohol meant that I felt brilliant during pregnancy. My baby was 9lbs 4ozs btw! I was all bump!

Is there a reason you are weighing yourself? I don’t think it matters how much you gain, as long as it isn’t really high amounts, it’s the baby’s growth that matters and the midwives will tell you if they worry about that.

Not sure where you got 2 stone by 25weeks from? That's 28lb! The NHS guidelines for healthy weight women are 22-25lb for the whole pregnancy IIRC, so you seem on track to me 🤷

ETA that the NHS figure includes 7lb of maternal fat stores, to give a surplus you can use up when breastfeeding. If you are intending to bottle feed, or you know you'll be able to eat the extra 500cal per day for breastfeeding when you're postpartum, then I would view this 7lb as optional!

by 20 weeks I had lost about half a stone from morning sickness/ whatever & they weren’t concerned at all. In fact said quite normal.
most of the weight gain (average healthy amount is something like 20 lbs / 1.5 stone for entire pregnancy) happens in 3rd trimester.
i would guess you’re pretty average for this stage but i have no real idea!! X

I only gained 1.5 stone total with my first baby and he weighed 10lbs 4 oz at birth. Unless your doctor/midwife is concerned then don’t worry about it. I just googled and your height and weight by 25 weeks it says around 8lbs so you aren’t that far off.

Be thankful! I had a hideous pregnancy where the only way I could stop throwing up was to eat! I gained 4 stone and looked and felt horrendous. I was also full of fluid. I lost 2 stone when I gave birth. It was such a relief!

It’s my terrible maths. 15lbs I read and somehow equated it to 2 stone, not 1. Doh!

My DS jumped on the scales this morning (he’s 3) and I literally did it out of interest. I’m a googler and just saw that the general weight gain for this point is 15-25lbs.

I know all pregnancies are totally different so as I say, not worried. Baby did start off on the 9th percentile and shot up to 17th in a couple of weeks. I think that’s played on my mind slightly.

I'm 5ft2 and with my first pregnancy I gained about 1-1.5 stone. I had hyperemesis in the first and third trimesters. I lost half a stone in the first trimester and I stated to lose weight again in the third trimester.
In my second pregnancy I had gained 10lbs by 28 weeks and I then didn't gain any more after that as I developed liver complications and then extreme fatigue.
In pregnancy I didn't have any consequences in my first pregnancy but did afterwards as I had severe pnd and had to go on to a very restricted diet as my daughter has a lot of food allergies. I ended up 1.5stone lighter than before pregnancy and dropped under 7stone.
In pregnancy with my second I did have consequences as I wasn't gaining weight because I wasn't awake enough to eat adequately and it was having an impact on my fatigue also. Since baby was born nearly 11 months ago and I have returned to my pre pregnancy weight and haven't had any issues.
