Hi all,

20 weeks pregnant with my second baby with having an anterior placenta 2nd time round!!!
when did you all start feeling movements the second time with anterior placenta?? I know to expect it not so quickly this time round but wanted to hear other people’s experiences….

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had it with my first, and currently have it with my third. Start feeling movement around 19/20 weeks (compared to around 16 weeks with my second that had placenta at the back)

20 weeks 1st and 2nd time round! Both anterior.

I have an anterior placenta currently with my first and felt movement around 20 weeks
Someone anecdotally told me they had it with their second and didn’t feel movement until 25 weeks!

I have an anterior placenta - 21 weeks with my first and still not felt anything but baby is flying around all over the place on the scans so seems to all be well!

Anterior placenta here as well, am 20 weeks and just started feeling movement in the last week. Not feeling it as much as I did with posterior placenta pregnancies though!

I have an anterior placenta and felt "flutters" around 16 weeks and then fairly regular movement since about 17/18 weeks. I'm 22 weeks now and feel very regular movement but it is all very low down and nothing on the outside. My first baby is now 14 and can't remember where my placenta was so don't have anything to compare to. I find laying on my left side helps if I'm having a quiet day.

this is the same with our little girl she’s kicking away on the scan but can’t feel a thing.
I had an anterior placenta with my first and I was in and out of hospital all the time with not being able to feel kicks. I was really hoping I wouldn’t have the same again but looks that way :/

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I had an anterior placenta with my first daughter as well and spent a lot of time in triage cos I was so anxious not being able to feel her kick. Looks like it will be the same this time☹️

I had an anterior for my first and will find out at my scan in two weeks about this time but your feelings are valid. I was also in triage constantly as I just couldn't feel a thing, even near the very end. But when hooked up, my little boy was bouncing around. It's so strange and difficult because I use to think 'what if this time I don't go'

I had anterior twice and still
felt kicks about 16 weeks.

DelurkingAJ · 03/08/2026 13:03

Anterior both times. Felt nothing until about 20 weeks but after that both were very active. Never feel bad going to triage though, they’d always rather see you, I’m sure!

Pregnant with first at the mo - felt first kick at 20+4

I guess having an anterior placenta 2nd time round you know what to expect although it’s still hard to enjoy your pregnancy when you can’t feel baby move. You are right tho that one time you don’t go something could be wrong!

I always used to feel I annoyed the midwife’s by going to triage every week but actually it’s their job and we are just being extra curious!! I would love to feel kicks all day long even if it woke me up at least we would know everything is ok!!

good luck for your scan, we have our 20 scan next week and you are also right everytime we see our little girl on scan she’s moving around everywhere 🤣
