Can anyone help identify the nub in my early scan photos?

Hi all, I know it’s a little early to be looking at nub theory but I can’t seem to locate exactly where baba’s nub is in my scan photos? There’s some where I think I see it and then I think I remember a little knobbly bit etc moving too high up when I was watching the screen. So could be part of the cord etc. Sorry they’re a bit crumpled LO got his hands on it lol!

I can only see a nub on the 3rd picture. The right hand side white line.

@ThatMintMember Thank you for taking the time to look and to reply. Does that little bit at the end suggest a boy? Although I’m unsure if it’s at more than 30 degrees 🥲

I think this is a really tricky one! Can’t see the ‘spine line’ I don’t think so it’s hard to work out the angle. But I think there’s a good chance this is a girl…

I'm not sure if it's just a bit early, baby normally needs to be lying quite flat so you can compare the spine to the nub. Also the very tip could end up forked (girl) or stacked (boy) from what I can see.

I'll hazard a guess that it's a girl as the nub doesn't seem pointed up that much 🤔

Baddaze · 03/08/2026 07:58

@120AM Thank you for replying! It’s definitely tricky isn’t it! I’ve been spending ages comparing nub photos online and I just can’t figure it out 🫠 Oo do you think? My intuition says girl but I came across a whole forum of people saying they ovulated on the right side and had a boy, so convinced myself it’s boy number 3 🤭

@ThatMintMember I think so too-and baba was doing proper water aerobics, moving around like crazy the sonographer was struggling to get measurements 🤣 Eeek part of me thinks it is a little lady! Tempted to get a private scan now that I’m over the 12 weeks 😄

You could always get a scan specifically to find out the gender at 16 weeks as it would be a lot clearer by then anyway :) was your intuition right with your boys? I knew I was having a boy in the first pregnancy and was right, pregnant again and felt strongly that it was a girl and it is! My girl is extremely active in there so maybe that relates too!

Baddaze · 03/08/2026 19:32

@ThatMintMember That’s true! I think I’ve gotten slightly obsessed with knowing lol 🤭 Aw how amazing! Intuition is incredible-eeek congratulations!☺️ Have you noticed differences between pregnancies too? I think I knew deep down but I didn’t lean too much into the idea of a certain gender before I knew, because I’m just one of those people who gets really attached to ideas really quickly 🤣 Although I know now that when they’re born they’re just your baby and you don’t even really see boy or girl 😊Wow no way? Totally makes sense because I don’t remember my boys whizzing around as much at the same stage lol!

which side you ovulate from has no input on the sex of the baby, it’s decided by the sperm!

I can see nub pointing down and would guess girl but I see on your scan they’re from 11+5 and nub theory isn’t accurate before 12 weeks so probably a bit early!

Baddaze · 03/08/2026 20:21

@Panda34 See the realist side of me knows that, then I went down a rabbit hole of a study that showed a slightly higher proportion of male babies conceived from the right side, but if that was actual solid concrete fact someone would have made a mint from it lol. Interesting thank you! I’m comparing from my previous pregnancies and the nubs were definitely more prominent and way easier to see, and potty shots at the same time showed boys 100% which I’m only just remembering 🤭

Haha I know what it’s like, get stuck googling obscure theories don’t you!

id book a private scan for 16 weeks then you’ll know 😊

Oh I totally get it! It's one of the only insights you get into who they'll be. I was obsessed with knowing from 12 weeks too both times haha.

I found my sickness was a lot more manageable this time so it did feel different to my pregnancy with my son. She's also just very active, I've felt movements since 11 weeks (felt her every day and I'm 24 weeks now). Also every scan she's literally bouncing all over 😂

I'm still apprehensive about accepting it's a girl as I'm scared to give away all my boy clothes only to find out it's a boy after all!

Baddaze · 04/08/2026 08:23

@Panda34 100% there’s almost too much info out there! I have an anatomy scan at around 16 weeks which feels ages away but it’ll definitely fly ☺️

@ThatMintMember It almost takes over every thought until you know doesn’t it 🤭 That’s so interesting, I’m definitely seeing differences this time around like my sickness had definitely passed at this stage with my boys, still so sick with this little one! That’s so funny that little one is zooming around like mine 🤣 Oh I get that so much, I gave away so much after my first little one and then when baby 2 arrived I was thinking why did I do that?? Even the neutral stuff 😭

Oh dear, hopefully the sickness passes soon for you.

I'm actually quite keen for a clear out as I kept literally everything from my son. Need to get rid of all the things I didn't even like haha. Who designs sleepsuits that fasten at the back? And 4 years later I still don't like Peter Rabbit 😂

Baddaze · 04/08/2026 11:46

@ThatMintMember Thank you, fingers crossed! Hahaha omg ptsd from the big fancy Peter Rabbit gros with the collars, really not ideal for a busy new Mum 😆

@Baddaze hey OP. It looks like my 12 week scan with my current pregnancy. I am currently 20 weeks, had a private scan to find out the sex at 16 weeks and she's a little girl :)

Lol, tell me about it! I had Peter Rabbit muslins, vests, rompers, sleepsuits, 2 dungaree sets! All 0-3 :/ i was so stressed trying to get him in them all before they didn't fit! They were all gifts so nothing to do with me 😂

Baddaze · 04/08/2026 13:36

@SKLM Thank you for replying-congratulations! Aw no way? That’s so helpful to know. 🥰 My instinct just looking at the pictures is that baby is a girl-so exciting!

@ThatMintMember Exact same here and for some reason, I was putting pressure on myself to try and make sure everyone who gifted something received a photo of baby wearing said outfit-full time job 🤣 I never gift fancy outfits to anyone anymore, always a nice frame and wipes nappies and the vital hygiene spray etc 💕

I was the same, was literally stressed before baby had even arrived thinking about being able to get baby into all these outfits! Nice to be feeling more experienced this time around. Won't be putting as much pressure on myself!

Baddaze · 05/08/2026 17:48

@ThatMintMember I think that rings so true for so many new Mums, it’s definitely so nice to take that pressure off yourself! I find with my second I’m way too busy to care about things that I thought loads about the first time around 🤣
