How long was your 3rd labour?

I am due my 3rd in December and my hospital is 50 mins drive away. My first labours weren’t quick (8 hours+) just wondering if I am going to need a plan B if we can’t get there. I definitely don’t want to have her on the side of the motorway!

It would be good to hear your birth stories for number 3 and how long your first and second took in comparison.

Plenty of areas on the SW are 1h from hospital. You could look at independent midwives for homebirth OP? A doula won’t do anything to make a freebirth safer than just being alone

2: 2 hours
3: 25 mins

All back to back. Last one exceptionally traumatic. Please have a plan B!!

My 3rd was 3 hours. My 2nd and 4th were both around 2 hours! No1 was 36 hours 🙈 so it dramatically reduced

Although technically my 4th was recorded as 7 mins but that's only because he arrived as soon as we got to the hospital, but I don't count that!

My first was on and off over two days but actually in the hospital for about two hours,

Second baby I still had my clothes on and they were trying to get me on the delivery table. Less than twenty minutes since I arrived at the hospital I should think.

2 and a half days… during a heat wave in Covid.

1st: Induced, 42 weeks, 12 hours
2nd: Induced, 42 weeks, 8 hours
3rd: Planned home birth, thought I had wind, from the point midwife was called to baby making an appearance was about 30 minutes. To be fair, as I'd only experienced hard induction labour before, I'd not realised what mild labour pains felt like. Only missed one episode of Friends to pop her out.

6 hours
4 hours
45 minutes

1st - four hours.
2nd - four hours.
3rd - just under 30 mins. Delivered by dh in the kitchen.

Always a good idea to have a plan for what to do if labour progresses quickly
