Hi all

going to get straight to the point, my nearly 6 yr old child got angry and had a tantrum over something and decided to hit me in the belly around the belly button area context even tho still not acceptable they struggle to deal with emotions and have adhd. The punch was quite firm and medium power to it and I’m really scared that it’s caused harm to baby. It felt a little pain at the time which was around 2 hrs ago but now nothing slight tender but not noticeable type pain.
im 14 weeks 4 days, im really scared

thanks

I think you need to go and get a scan to put your mind at ease.

with regards to your 6 year old hitting you - that needs addressing too my older 2 knew I had a baby in my tummy my eldest son was 4 and then I had dd and when she was 3 nearly 4 I had my youngest. I can’t imagine them doing this and this sort of behaviour needs tacking. Do they know you’re pregnant and are they jealous and want to hurt the baby for some reason? Reach out to your midwife for some help with this.

I was in a major car accident at 34 weeks. Car was a write off. Baby was fine.

Do go for a scan to reassure. But if it helps
when I was about 20 weeks my then 3 year old dropped onto my belly with both knees while dancing next to me in the bed.
I convinced myself of all
sorts but went for a scan and all was well. The sonographer was absolutely confident I had nothing to worry about even before checking because of how cushioned baby was. He’s not 8.

sending love OP X

Is this a continuous theme in your home where your older one doesn’t respect you? No child of mine has ever hit me - especially with a baby in my tummy. At the current stage any baby should be well protected but if your older child doesn’t respect you or the sibling you have in your tummy I think you’re in for far worse

Thanks for reply’s I might see how things are in morning, regarding my child’s actions they didn’t know I was pregnant which I have reasons for, But they know now. And as I said in my first post although no excuse they have adhd which they finded it more difficult to regulate their emotions and find it hard to calm down. They have respect but when they get upset it’s difficult for them.

If you are Rhesus negative you should go in for Anti D as even minor trauma can cause maternal and foetal blood to mix which can cause problems with your immune system attacking the baby. But the actual trauma is unlikely to cause harm. Definitely call triage in the morning.
