Anyone had huge amount of bleeding in early pregnancy and it was all ok?

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and had a scan last week, I got to hear the heartbeat and baby was moving around nicely.
Then a week later I went for a walk with my friend and I started bleeding, it felt like a trickle but then it started pouring out.
I went to A&E (which was horrific as they left me to bleed in the waiting room for 5 hours without giving me any new pads and were extremely unsympathetic)
as it was a Friday night they can’t scan me until Monday but they did get a little portable scanner where we could see the baby was still there. He couldn’t pick up a heartbeat but he thinks it’s because the machine wasn’t great but he thinks he could see the baby move.
I’m on bedrest this weekend and just beside myself with worry and anxiety 😢 Has anyone had any positive stories?

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this that sounds like a really horrible experience for you
do you not have an EPU near you? You can ask for a referral there and they can check you over I think. I went around 6 weeks when I was getting excruciating pain to check I didn’t have an ectopic. They know what they’re looking for and are used to seeing it so you get better care. You might have to wait a few days but worth trying to get on a list. Do you have a midwife already? She might be able to help you, I was able to text mine and she worked weekends too, but I don’t know if I was just lucky in my area with that. I’d also not be afraid to go back or call 111 if you are bleeding a lot, I can’t remember exactly what the nhs says but bleeding through a pad every 2 hours or something? Have a look on their website.

yes had heavy bleeding at 16 weeks put on bed rest it gradually reduced& stopped. Hope it works out well for you

Yes I have an EPU but as it was Friday night they aren’t open till Monday so I have to wait all weekend 😢
yes I have a midwife but they aren’t very good to be honest. You have to email them and they don’t work weekends. With my last pregnancy I had the most lovely midwife and I had her number but she’s gone off on maternity leave herself now x

Yes I did, it turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma (blood clot) everything was fine but it was scary. Fingers crossed for you x

I had full on periods with heavy bleeding, I was so scared but I have a happy and healthy 12 year old now, so things like this don’t always mean the worst! I had very slight spotting during my second pregnancy. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I can imagine A&E would be awful with this type of situation, I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that and the uncertainty afterwards. I had a bleed at 14 weeks and went to the Maternity Assessment Unit at my local hospital (does yours have one? Ours is 24/7). Rang first thing in the morning and was told to come straight in, they saw me within the hour, did bloods, a scan and cervix check and luckily everything was ok but they're knowledgeable and kind which makes all the difference. 22 weeks now and all still going ok, they'll see me anytime if theres any more bleeding or I've been there for reduced movements in a previous pregnancy too and they were brilliant.

I had a subchorionic haemorrhage around 9 weeks. Absolutely terrifying, thought I was sure to have a miscarriage. A&E also useless, went to the EPU and made a bit of a fuss at the desk so they agreed to squeeze me in for a scan a couple of days later. Everything was fine. I went on to have a completely uneventful pregnancy and gave birth to a 9 lbs baby girl who was healthy and strong in every way.

"Benign" bleeding in pregnancy apparently happens a lot. I never realised until it happened to me. Good luck OP, hope everything is fine with you too.

I didn't have heavy bleeding like yours but i did have bleeding with all 3 of my babies and thankfully they were all absolutely fine.
It was very scary and i feel for you and hope all goes well .
With my last pregnancy i bled at 18 weeks and i too had a really unsympathetic male nurse in a&e, i found a&e to be pretty useless before 20 weeks.
I didn't know how common bleeding is until it happened to me.

Unfortunately no I don’t seem to have anything like that in my area.
yes A&E was horrendous. Eventually a gynaecologist came down who was a lot more sympathetic and he did a cervix check but that’s all they could really do x

I had bleeding at 11 weeks too, literally the day after my scan when we'd just told everyone, also over a weekend. I eventually passed a big clot, and was scanned on the Monday...all ok, DS will be 26 next week. Fingers crossed everything is okay for you

That's a shame, unfortunately it seems in A&E they dont have much experience with doing baby scans. Even on the MAU the doctor couldn't tell me much aside from that there was still a baby and it was moving. I'm sure you'll get far more expertise on monday if your scan is with a proper sonographer.

I felt much more reassured once I'd had a 16 week scan with a sonographer as she thoroughly checked everything and the same at 20 weeks where she discovered where the bleed likely came from weeks and weeks later.

Me!! It was literally like someone had turned on a tap! It was a ridiculous amount of blood it came from no where I had no cramps etc. it was a subchorionic hematoma. I bled from 11 weeks until about 14 on and off it was so scary. It definitely sounds like this is what you have too. I went to a&e and I had the gynaecologist look at my cervix, tell me it was closed and that I had had previous miscarriages so I know what it’s like- super unhelpful. Sending you lots of love. Unfortunately there is not a lot anyone can do. As awful as that sounds.
I had 4 miscarriages and 2 children. Very stressful as I bled in the successful pregnancies aswell. Best wishes

Yes, had a big bleed at 11 weeks. They suggested I’d lost a twin. The rest of the pregnancy was absolutely fine.

Yes, I was around 10/11weeks as well. Woke up in the night in a pool of blood, went to the loo and passed clots. I honestly thought I must have miscarried. I rang the drs who told me the only way to get an EPU referral was to go to A&E, which I did. Luckily they got me into the EPU that afternoon.
I honestly thought they’d just confirm id lost the baby, I could not fathom him being ok with how much blood I lost. But, there he was kicking away on the scan. He’s 8 now.

Yes. At 12 weeks 6 days. HUGE bleed massive. And it subsequently lasted for two weeks like a long period. Baby is now 6 and is practicing her handwriting next to me as I type.

Yes, I had a lot of bleeding in early pregnancy and I am now 40weeks, expecting her any day now! It was something called sub chorionic hematoma. I was put on strict rest until we got to the 16 week mark and was having very regular scans with the EPU.
