Hi - I am a 41 year old woman with 2 young children. A baby and a 5 year old. I had a recent smear done and found HPV but no abnormal cells . I’m devastated. Retesting in one year. What can I do to suppress this? How likely will it be gone? I feel like I’m going to die and my kids will be without a mum

I think youre overreacting. I have also had a smear with hpv and no abnormal cells and by the time I had my follow up smear a year later my body had cleared it and I went back to the 5 year testing cycle. I didnt do anything special to clear it

If you dont smoke then your body should clear it

I have had HPV on every smear test I’ve had for the last 10 years. As long as you keep up your smears they will be able to keep on top of abnormal smears. In a way, I’d rather have a smear every year than every 5 years!

Something like 80% of unvaccinated people will test positive for HPV at some point.
